I Don't Think You're In Kalos Anymore...

"Kayden! He fought that thing by himself! Where were you?!" Ryker panicked. Zachary was asleep in his arms, looking to be in pain. Alot of pain.

Kayden couldn't think straight. Zachary was back. Finally. But what the hell had that monster done to him?!

"What the hell happened!? Help him! Fix him!" Kayden had screamed.

Zachary's emerald eyes fluttered open, and he smiled despite his obvious injuries. "Kayden.. did you see me?" He had asked, hopeful in spite of it all. "Cmon.. you saw me.. right..?" He was whispering by then, his energy fading.

Kayden tried his best to comfort his freind. "Mhm, yeah. I saw you. You did great. You did great." He repeated that to Zachary over and over in a hushed voice. He hadn't actually seen his fight, but he was sure that Zachary won. He always does.

Ryker gently put Zachary down. He was sat against a tree while Kayden and Ryker talked in urgent whispers.

"Ok. Let's start with my first question. Why the fuck. did he fight that thing alone?" Ryker's known the duo for almost a year now. Kayden wouldn't just leave Zachary to fight something that... world ending by himself. So why did Zachary come stumbling out of that wormhole barely able to keep himself upright with Kayden nowhere in sight until at least 8 minutes later?

"It was the wormhole." Kayden confirmed Ryker's already proven suspicions. "It closed right after he entered. I couldn't do anything, at least not until the professor called me and told me that more wormholes where opening. Thats where I was. Fighting off ultra beasts. I'm sorry I wasn't there when Zachary came back. I really am." He looked sadly over at his companion. He was badly bruised and covered in scrapes, but as far as they could see he was alive.

Silence filled the air between the three.

"I'll get him home." Kayden had said to Ryker quietly. Ryker nodded, and began walking in the direction of the professor and the others. They talked quietly in hopes that Kayden wouldn't hear them.

"So. Whats your report, Ryker?" The professor had asked the teen, though he likely knew what it would consist of.

"He won. Of course he won. But, he was badly injured when he returned. He's passed out right now. I left Kayden to take him home. How are the wormholes?"

"Gone. Gone except the one Zachary came out of. We believe we may be able to travel through that wormhole given enough time."

"Mm. You've seen what comes out of those. Why? Why would you want to return to that? Why would you let that out?"

"Its all for human progression. You should know good and well that's our goal, Richard." The foundation employee that cut in looked smug. Ryker hated it.

"You should know good and well not to call me Richard, Faba." Ryker spat out heated. Eventually he'd leave this place. When it stopped offering safety, and when it stopped offering answers.

"If you'll excuse me, I have a passed out little brother to check on." Ryker had said with feigned politeness. He didn't bother waiting for permission, he simply left in the direction of the ferry. Kayden and Zachary were likely on a different island by now.

Looking at Zachary's injuries was diffucult for Kayden. Taking care of them was even more so. He'd gotten the first aid kit out of their bathroom and tried his best to patch him up. It wasn't good, but it didn't look like it was done in a back alley.

Zachary had somehow managed to sleep through that. Kayden thought nothing of it. He just fought one of the most powerful beings in existence, he deserved to sleep in.

When Ryker returned, Kayden has fallen asleep as well, with his head on Zachary's chest. He was glad the two of them were ok.

Sometimes he really liked being an 'older brother' to them.

So this would happen around the end, before the "necrozma sickness" arc kicks in, and after the "poni island" arc
