A week and a half had passed, and your wounds finally healed. Therefore, you can head back to your family's restaurant. Your mother had taken your position at work due to your absence. Which made you feel a little guilty.

She was an elderly woman with barely any strength left. You always had to help her walk around the village, these past few days Sukoshi has been taking care of her, but his grandma would always decline his help since he was her dearest grandson.

The scars permanently tattooed your body. You let out a sigh as you tied the yellow obi around your waist. After years this simple task stopped being difficult. Your sister made you a favor and bought you a new one due to the last one getting all screwed up. The kimono was a beautiful blue. Pretty almond blossoms decorated the bottom.

You kissed your mom's forehead as a farewell and left with Sukoshi.

Ever since Rengoku killed the demon there's been no more missing children. Your mind was finally at ease.
Word was going around the missing children were eaten by that woman, for you prayed for them. You were glad your nephew wasn't one of them.

Getting the restaurant ready, you felt a tug on your kimono. "Oba! It's the guy that rescued us!" Sukoshi pointed at a man across the street. His back was facing you, but his hair is what made him stand out in the village. Your nephew jumped with joy. "I'll bring him!" He ran after the demon slayer. You tried to stop him through his tiny feet were too fast.
Okay, maybe he can win a race against you.

You saw the scenery unfold.

Sukoshi pointed at you with a cute grin as Rengoku looked down at him. The older man turned his face towards you, and there you met his gorgeous and unforgettable irises.

Oh no, he's walking over here.
You bowed down to him. "Thank you so much for saving my nephew and I." Your voice came out as sweet as candy due to the shyness that covered you.

The male bowed back. "I'm glad I could help. I see you're doing better than the last time we met." He chuckled.

Without a warning, he gently grabbed your hand and tenderly brushed his thumb over the scars in your hand. You glance at him with curiosity about his action.

Sukoshi eyes landed on Rengoku, then at you, then at Rengoku, then at you, then at Rengoku.

"Oba makes the best food!" He randomly shouted.
The older male quirked an eyebrow at the smaller one. "Is that so?" He grinned at the boy. "Yeah! Everyone here loooves her cooking! That's why our restaurant is famous!" He waved his arms in the air to make his wording more dramatic.

You shook your head rapidly. "N-No! He's just exaggerating!" You argued, not even questioning why he brought the subject up. Sukoshi stared up at you. "No, I'm not! Her food is amazing!" He argued back. Rengoku watched the quarrel release. This went on for a few minutes.

"Why are you mad?! I'm complimenting you!"

"I don't know! You know I never take compliments well!"

"Why are you like this?!"

"I don't know!"

People weren't lying when they said toddlers call you out for no reason.

Rengoku laughed loudly at the family's debate, making them quiet down. He crossed his arms proudly. "I will be the judge of that!!" Sukoshi joyfully jumped and grabbed your hand, dragging you behind the counter. Your "restaurant" is just an outdoor bar. You and the boy washed your hands.

Rengoku sat down on one of the five stools.

"What will you like?" You asked.

The male placed his cheek on his palm. "Hmm, yaki udon will do!" His eyes lit up in excitement.

"You'll be paying for it, right?" Sukoshi popped in the short conversation. You turn around and send daggers at him. "Of course, my boy!" He chuckled at the little L/N. "You don't have to! Think of this as a thank you for saving us." You protested.

"But money-" You bumped your hip onto him purposely to shush him up.

"Your food will be right up." You smiled at the male in front of you.

You dragged the little boy to the counter. His tiny stool was already waiting there along with the dough of the noodles. He climbed his feet on top of the stool to reach the counter. He flattened the dough and cut it into thick strips.

You were on the other side, rinsing the vegetables and chopping them along with the raw meat.

Rengoku watched as the relatives made his food.

His multicolored eyes followed you as you walked around doing multiple tasks.

The young L/N took note of this.

The food was finally ready. The delicious scent danced its way to the man's nostrils. Seducing him to take a bite already.

"Thank you for the food!" He clasped his hands together then picked up the wooden chopsticks beside his plate.

Once the cooked meat was placed on his tongue, his taste buds met God. The flavor became heaven and he swore he could hear the angelic choir singing in the background.

"DELICIOUS!"

For every bite he would mumble "delicious." He didn't even leave a crumb for the dogs that wander the streets of the village.

"Another plate!" He yelled as he slammed the pair of chopsticks in a horizontal direction.

Both yours and your nephew's mouth hung open.

Rengoku ate a total of twelve plates.

You wiped the sweat that's been forming on your forehead with a clean rag. You smiled at the man that kept devouring the meat you gracefully seasoned and the fresh vegetables you rinsed.

"RENGOKU KYOJURO! MISSION ON THE NORTHEAST! VILLAGE MASHUMARO!

A random loud and shrieking voice shouted.
Rengoku gave the two L/N a big smile. "Thank you for feeding me! I'll make sure to come back for more!" He put the plate on top of the nice stack he had done out of the plates he devoured.

Sukoshi hurried and walked out of the bar. "What mission?! Fighting more monsters?" He jumped up and down from excitement. Rengoku pat the little boy's head. "Yes! Once I come to visit I'll tell you all about it!" He matched the small male's energy.

Seeing Sukoshi happy with a potential father figure made you crack out a big and warm smile.

You go up to the two males. You bow down to Rengoku once again. "Please be careful on your mission." He bowed back. "You're very kind, L/N. I'll show up in one piece, do not worry too much." He gave you a big and shiny grin.

The demon slayer left the relatives with a final goodbye.

Once Rengoku was out of sight the two L/N cleaned up the small mess.

Sukoshi grabbed two plates while you grabbed the rest of them. You noticed there was paper underneath the last tray.

It was yen. The total of twelve plates.

Your jaw dropped. You settled the dishes on the sink, where Sukoshi was washing them.
Guilt washed over you. Why would he pay? Any normal person would just take the free food.

Your nephew tried to look at what you were holding in your palm. "Oba! He actually paid!" The boy shouted in excitement.

You rolled your eyes. "I swear you get that money hungriness from your mother." The boy giggled in response. You sighed and smiled at him.
