It was the first day of the week. The sun barely rised out of its slumber. The birds were singing their morning song.
Sundays were the only days you opened the small restaurant earlier than usual. You didn't mind waking up in the morning. You actually loved it. The mornings were always peaceful. Only the sounds of nature would fill your ears.
Sukoshi on the other hand. He despised Sundays. He despised waking up early. Right now you were struggling to get him out of his futon. He only replied with groans and wiggled deeper into his futon.
"Come on, Sukoshi. What if Rengoku-san shows up. You been wanting to see him." You shook his tiny shoulder. He finally popped his head out of the futon. "He hasn't showed up for a month, Oba. I don't think he's coming back." Sukoshi has been out of it for a week now. The energy he gives Sundays he's been giving it for the whole last week. He hasn't been excited to go to work with you anymore.
You hated seeing your nephew like this.
You rubbed his tiny back. "Want me to make you some dorayaki?" Your nephew looked up at you; a glint appeared in his eyes. He happily nodded. His mood changed real quick when food got involved.
"Then hurry and get dressed." You chirped.
It didn't take long for the boy to get ready. At last, both of you finally left the house.
You crouched down and laid your arms beside you. "Get on. I'll carry you." He immediately jumped on to your back, almost making you stumble down. He's gotten heavier than the last time. His small giggles made you laugh with him. You were blessed with such a good nephew.
You still remember the day he came into this world.
Your sister, Higuma, had screamed to the point where she couldn't speak for a few days. But it was worth it all in the end.
As you got closer to the bar, you noticed a familiar man with familiar warm-colored hair. But you also noticed a woman. She had pink hair that faded to lime-green.
Sukoshi gasped "Oba! It's Rengoku-san!" He yelled in your eardrum. You chuckled; letting your nephew down before he could jump down from excitement.
He ran towards the older male, stopping right in front of him.
"Rengoku-san! Where have you been?" Sukoshi asked, his voice cracked a tiny bit.Rengoku gave him a gentle smile. He kneeled down and put his palms on the floor. He bowed. "I'm sorry for not coming earlier, Sukoshi."
You noticed the woman's eyes becoming teary, and her lips trembling.
You gently smiled at your nephew. You nudge him to say something.
"It's okay. Just please keep your promise next time." The boy's lips turn into a small grin. Rengoku got himself up from the ground.
"I will."
The honor and respect of this man made you feel something. You didn't know what that something was but it's something.
Sukoshi and you bowed to the two friends. "My name is (L/N) (Y/N) and this little boy is my nephew, (L/N) Sukoshi." You introduced yourself to the woman.
She slammed her hands on her cheeks, leaving red handprints on them. "They're both so cute!!" She screamed.Your cheeks filled themselves with warmth. "Thank you."
She bowed down to you and your relative. "I'm Kanroji Mitsuri! Very nice to meet you!" She smiled brightly.
"I've heard so much about you! Kyojuro was bragging about your food a few weeks ago! He promised to take me here a while ago but never did!" She leaned closer to you. "He got me craving food that I've never tasted for so long. So I forced him to take me today!" She put her hands on her hips and laughed. She seemed very proud of herself.
