I run through the woods, feeling the cold wet ground beneath my bare feet. I can't seem to shut off my wandering mind as I race through the trees. I wonder why they think it's my fault, why they think I would do such a horrible thing.

She was my best friend. I loved her as if she was my own sister, of course we weren't blood related but we did everything together so it felt like that's what we were. We always went to the woods behind the house to play, we loved to walk in the woods and make flower crowns for each other. We'd explore and discover the world we were so isolated from.

We wanted everything to be the same with us, we even wanted to look alike so we had Mrs. Langton buy us the same clothes and matching stuff for school. It was nearly impossible for anyone to tell us apart besides our looks because that's how much we acted like sisters.

She had pretty fiery red sraight hair with pretty green eyes that always had the brightest shine in them. She was the prettiest of the two of us, which I was okay with because it didn't change how she treated me. I have nappy wavy auburn hair and funky nerd glasses that covers up my blue-green eyes.

We had lived in a group home called Pearlside Home for Girls in Pearl, Virginia with four other girls. Altogether there are six girls; Marley, Stephanie, Jessica, Katelyn, Lola and me. Jessica and Marley are the ones who always picked on me, while Katelyn and Stephanie just stand there and laugh. Lola has never laughed at me, she stood up for me all the time, which is what caused us to become friends to begin with.

As I run through the woods, the thoughts racing through my mind, causing the tears to well in my eyes than faster fall down my cheeks. I run faster and don't stop, not even when the cold air hits my damp face or when I feel my chest start to hurt.

After finally listening to the burning pain in my legs and lungs, I slowly come to a stop but I trip over a tree branch. I let out a light gasp as I feel myself falling to the ground, so I attempt to put my hands in front of myself to try to break the fall but what I feel is absolutely nothing.

It's only when everything starts to get darker that I realize I'm falling into a hole in the ground, I try to scream but it's too late. My body hits the hard ground beneath me and  before I can catch my breath, everything goes dark. This is only the beginning.
