Itzel
I refuse to believe.
---------------------------------------------------------
More pieces of the falling ceiling came raining down on our tent. It was a storm.
I looked at Julie and Julie looked at me.
Are we actually going to do this?
In a tent where everything is made up of fabric, I think escaping this collapsing school has a much higher chance of us surviving than being trapped in this fabric house with broken pieces of concrete falling on us.
I swiftly yanked Julie's forearm and pulled the zipper of the tent down.
We do this, we make it out alive.
Julie and I ran out of the tent and to the hallway. The walls were grumbling and the ground was trembling.
More pieces of concrete fell above us, and I'm sure my hair looked like a bowl of uncooked rice because of all the falling debris.
A huge chunk of the ceiling fell, landing right behind me. It was as big as a boulder, and all the electrical wiring could be seen hanging out of the broken concrete.
Julie and I sprinted to the level 4 staircase and ran down a few steps. In our frantic state, we managed to make it to the third level in a matter of seconds. We were 3 floors away from the open field downstairs. We can do this.
We ran to the opening of the level 3 staircase when I stepped on something sharp and hard, and immediately lost my balance and slipped, sliding down the long flight of stairs.
My back ached and I'm pretty sure im black and blue everywhere, along with a few bones broken.
Julie sprinted down the stairs to help me, but just as she ran to me, a big, neon orange tent fell through the ceiling right behind her. A block of broken concrete fell on it right after, shredding the tent into pieces. I stared at the fallen tent in shock. It was crushed and ripped apart.
That.. could've been us.
Just like the day we sought refuge in the tent after witnessing instructor Alicia's body, my eyelids began to fall.
No, I can't sleep now.
No matter how hard I pestered my eyelids to stay wide open, I just felt tired and unable to keep it open. What is happening?
Julie, struggled with the same problem, falling right beside me, her eye lids drooping aswell.
Before my energy was shut off however, I saw a black phone appear out of nowhere and roll off the flight of stairs I slipped from. The phone landed right next to me, the phone cover facing up. The phone cover was white and sparkly, along with the tag 'Sarah' stuck onto it.
Sarah's phone.
Then I fell asleep.
---------------------------------------------------------
I was nudged awake by someone.
"Guys? You were here?"
"Hm, what?"
Julie doesn't have two different voices...
I immediately shot up.
I was astonished. Infront of me was a depressed-looking Sarah, a traumatized Felicia and traumatized Kacey, along with a comatose Julie laying face-flat on the staircase floor.
They were here all along?
Julie began to wake and pushed herself from the ground. She had a few minor cuts on her face. She looked at all of us in confusion.
"Where's that Spider?" Kacey yelled.
"There was a spider?" I asked, astounded. Did a man with nothing but a pair of red glowing eyes who hallucinates you until you die look like a spider?
"Yeah, it was chasing us at the sheltered court. We were hiding in the sport equipment room when the school suddenly collapsed and we fell asleep," said a perplexed Kacey.
"Guys," Sarah said bluntly.
We all looked at her. Sarah had a solemn expression on her face.
"We were possibly separated into different worlds."
We all eye her in confusion, like she's a mad woman screaming 'I want to see your manager!'
"Each of us had different monsters in our different worlds, but I think now the school collapsed and the worlds merged."
Okay, Sarah isn't acting normal right now. Something obviously happened that made her face look so dead-pan. She was always so bubbly.
"All our monsters are here, together."
Sarah's emotionless face suddenly transitioned into a red-hot face, her lips curling downwards and her eyes leaking tears.
"Sarah, it's okay," Julie comforted Sarah and went to hug her.
"Bernadette.." Sarah spoke through cries.
I looked around us. Damn. How did I not realise? Bernadette, Safiyyah and Andrea aren't here.
"She's dead."
I immediately snapped my head back and looked at Sarah. This has to be a joke.
"I'm not joking."
This is a joke. Stop playing your games Sarah.
"Stop joking around in a time like this Sarah!" Kacey shouted.
"You fucking think I'm joking? I saw it with my goddamn eyes!" Sarah cried, grabbing and tugging her scalp in frustration.
Please tell me you're joking.
My eyes tickled and my nose burned. Small droplets of salty tears rolled out of my eye socket.
We were all shocked, just staring at Sarah as she cried like it was a staring contest. I looked up at the ceiling to prevent any more tears from rolling out.
I looked left, Julie was emotionless, Kacey was covering her mouth and her eye were wide opened in shock. Felicia was hugging her stomach and avoiding eye contact.
I looked back at Sarah. She bowed her head down. Her tears dripped off from her eyes and fell to her skirt.
I noticed something pink being fiddled around in Sarah's left hand.
It was a pink purse that was stained with blood.
Her right hand was covered in blood as well. I looked at her face. Along with cuts above her eyebrow and on her cheekbone, there was also a white thorn sticking out of her cheek.
"Sarah, what happened to Bernadette?" I asked.
She didn't reply, but she just cried harder.
I shouldn't have pushed her harder.
I refuse to believe she's dead, but seeing Sarah like this, I think all hope is lost.
What about Andrea and Safiyyah?
