I stepped weakly toward the pitch where a group of young boys stood around a tall man, bellowing instructions, my father's stiff hand firmly upon my shoulder.
"Go and don't you disappoint me, I expect you to only be the best of the best and win slytherin tournaments- make our family proud m'boy" he murmered in my ear, shoving me towards the smattering of boys.
"And who are you?" The loud man enquired.
"Sirius Orion Black sir, I am excited to be meeting" I replied with all the airs and flairs my parents had taught me over the years.
"Well Sirius Orion, have you ever played Quidditch? Or even, heavens, been on a broom?" He chuckled ;turning to the other children with a smile.
They all laughed at me.
Pushing my embarrassment down I responded "no sir, only toy brooms sir" blushing furiously, I felt as if my face were on fire from all the burning looks the children were giving me, trying to find out more about me.
One blonde, mischevious looking girl (the one and only Marlene McKinnon)- the only one mind you- giggled and turned to a boy who looked like he could be her brother (later I discovered he was her older brother, Mason) and whispered with a broad grin on her face, looking back and forth at me, indicating that she was indeed gossiping about me.
I was totally embarassed and humiliated, the whole group was laughing at me.
"Well then m'boy, we have a lot of work to do!" The loud man declared, obviously also pushing down laughter.
"Yes sir, just one question, what is your name?" I enquired with much curiosity,
"You may call me Coach, think nothing of it" he responded, softly stroking his beard- most likely to think of what to do with me. "You know what boy, here you go." He said whilst pulling out a pristine broom, groomed and plucked till the end of the broom looked pointed and polished till it gleamed like silverware.
My eyes widened.
He was going to let me ride on his state of the art broom.
"Well don't keep me waiting" he stated impatiently;
I held out my hand and winced "If you insist sir."
