I can tell it's evening from the cloudy sky, it has been seventeen hours since I dozed into a deep slumber. Checked my phone, it's switched off. I see a charging point beside my bed, should've plugged into it before I slept, ugh! I quickly plugged in to realize that the power's gone. I take a walk through all the rooms to see a room at the corner with its bolt left open, unlocked. Maybe, I missed it in the night. I opened it to hear a loud thud. I turned around to see a cute little kitten standing in the vintage drawer by the window side. "Ha! So, I'm not alone here," I thought to myself. When I moved forward to watch its eyes, it gently caressed my hair. "Whoa! Definitely not a kitten, some angel in disguise", I smiled softly.
I came out of the room to see a comfortably spacious terrace with tiny little pots here and there. I chose a bench and sat there side-legged with the other hitting in the air. A tiny birdie, I see walking over the roof, just chilling, not giving a care about its present or future, I guess. Cuckoos cooed till their homies answered back, I think they had gotten home back together. I've heard a few Quran verses faintly through the passing wind although I don't see a Mosque nearby.
A crow on the top of the tank moving through the corners of the building has been cawing for a long time now, maybe, it's in search of its homie. Ain't we all the same?
Why is it the human brain leaves one hundred parallel tabs wide open?! Sometimes, we don't even know what's going through them but, but a thought is always found to be whirling if we look at it closely. I see the orange shades of sky blending into blue eventually turning deep black.
I see hope in the crescent moon, smiling. Someday, it would meet its half so that it'd be a whole thing.
Closing the hundred and one tabs on my head, I decided to freshen up and take a look at the city.
As I take a stroll in the city, a few rain drops turned pitter patter. People on the roads ran looking for cover, a few opened their umbrellas, I just walked briskly not knowing where to. I quickened my pace as the rain became heavier.
The welcome scent of the coffee wavers in the air calling me to take a sip in there. I walk to the corner seat, old habits die hard. The clock on the wall read 5:00 pm, I don't have to leave any soon. As if I had someone awaiting me at home, brushing off the
thought, I look around for the waitress, the need for caffeine is consuming my mind. As I take a seat, amidst all the ladies with heavy shopping bags and teens browsing through their phones, I saw a pair of brown eyes which made my heart pound quicker like it never really beat till date, taking me far far away to the days I thought I'll never think about them again.
