I starred at the scroll until my eyes watered. I reached out and held it in my hands. Even though I could not feel the paper, I knew it was light and rough and covered in dust.

"Ishir, Master Sokka was my great grandfather. And with my waterbending power, I will teach you how to bend, even without your hands."

"How?" I say frustrated, it felt impossible to get better. How would this man help?

"I know you are discouraged with your predicament, but trust me, I know what I am doing." He smiled and took back the scroll.

"Wait!" I snatched the scroll back and opened it rapidly.  I look at the bloodlines. Then, in black ink is my father's name.

Ishun Babu

"You're my grandfather?" I look at the old man in astonishment.

"Well, yes. You see your father had a very difficult childhood before I found him. He was beaten by his father, who was drunk with sorrow from the loss of your real grandmother. She died from a tragic fire-bending accident, similar to your own, but you were lucky enough to survive;"

"One day, Ishun ran away while his father thought he was getting food. He used his father's money to buy himself shoes and enough food to last him two weeks. But on the first day of his running, your father broke his foot. He had been wandering for hours and as he tried to climb up a small rocky hill, a large boulder slid down and landed directly on his foot. I heard his howls from my home near the river and went and found him. Because of his relationship with his father and his extreme PSTD, it took your father a while to get used to me. Once he turned 18, he expressed he wanted to join the military. I had no idea how he thought he could because of his past trauma, but he insisted. Before he could discuss it once more with me, he was gone in a night." Sokka sighed and rested against the cave wall.

"Well, my father met my mother before he went to the military, and married her and had me and Mai," I explained.

"Yes yes." Sokka seemed to be irritated now, but I didn't know why.

"Okay, let's sing a little song Master Sokka taught me." Sokka grinned and started belting out,

"Secret Tunnel! Secret Tunnel! Through the mountains! Secret! Secret! Secret! Secret Tunnel!!
