CHAPTER 1

Yeji finally reached the beach cabin where her things were stored whilst doing a photoshoot.

She opened the door and removed her sandals. She then dived into the bed and stretched.

"Ahh, this is the life!"

She admitted today's photoshoot was very tiring compared to the previous one she had three weeks ago. In addition, the photographer was very strict.

It's her first time working with this photographer and had to allow herself, together with the other models, to be guided and instructed as much as the professional wanted.

Actually, today's contract states the shoot will be for approximately 5 hours only, but it ended up more than 8 hours or so. She did not complain as she does not want to embarrass her bestfriend, who recommended her as an alternative at the last minute when the main model did not arrive and had cancelled the shoot, to the annoyance of the said photographer. Besides she will be paid extra for the additional hours.

Remembering yesterday, Yeji sighed.

She just got off work, it was another hectic day for her, when her bestfriend called suddenly stating she was in a dire situation. Being the Lead Project Co-ordinator for an assignment, she begged her to save her once again.

This is not the first time her bestfriend has asked her to model every time she was in this kind of predicament. Nevertheless she always accepts unless her own work schedule does not permit it.

She immediately agreed for this photoshoot because she badly needed the money anyways for the down payment of the house she has been planning to buy. Furthermore, the photos are going to be released internationally so no one will ever find out.

The said photoshoot is for next years spring / summer collection of an international clothing brand.

Yeji thought about today's shoot to see which area she needs to improve on.

As soon as she arrived at the location shoot, Yura told her to just follow her lead and do what she is told, explaining the character of the photographer.

Yura said that the main model's career must be practically over particularly the photographer is very well-known in his field locally and internationally. The famed photographer is very meticulous with the projects he is choosing, always wanting precise schedules for his work, and that situation like this is very rare.

According to her bestfriend, if he likes her perhaps the photographer will ask for her again in the future. Yura added working with this particular photographer will be a good opportunity to expand her portfolio.

Luckily the photographer approved Yeji as soon as he saw her and seemed pleased with the shots afterwards.

Yes, Yeji is a freelance model for almost four years now and no one in her family knows what she has been doing. She does not even have a manager because these are only occasional part-time work which she does every now and then. She has a main job, which her family only knows of.

Yeji knew if her family learns about her freelance modelling, they will not be pleased at all, and they might even disown her for defying their wishes.

Everybody in her family is working in the medical field, with her dad and her brother being doctors whilst her mum is currently the head nurse at the hospital where she is also working.

We can say that she has two working personas she is keeping, and it is only her bestfriend, Yura, who knew about this. Not even one of her hospital work colleagues knew she is a model.

Being a freelance model was never in her dream. Well, Yura was the reason she became a model in the first place. The story of how she became a 'secret model' was still fresh from her memory even though it has already been couple of years ago, and she felt a little proud of herself because of this achievement.

Originally, Yeji had dreamt of becoming a nurse since she was a little girl. It was her mother who inspired her. She is her role model.

When Yeji was young, she had witnessed her mother saving a drowning woman when they were on a vacation. The said woman survived and got better in the end, and afterwards had visited her mother and gratefully thanked her for what she had done. From what she remembered, apparently the drowning woman was also pregnant. The woman gave monetary gift but this was declined by her mother, telling the woman it was her duty and nothing else. That left a huge impact on her young mind, she will become a nurse just like her mother when she grows up. Luckily that wished came through.

She knew in her heart she will continue to work as a nurse until she grows old. But for now, she is liking her part-time work as a freelance model more because of the money she gets. Right now, her salary from being a nurse will not get her the house she wanted to buy. It will take a decade before she could move out of her parents' house if she just stayed as a nurse.

It's not that she is being asked to move out, she just wanted to experience being independent. All her life she was sheltered and nurtured by her parents. They have their own housekeeper and her dad has a driver who also maintains their garden.

At times, she looks clueless when her colleagues are talking about managing their own finances, completing households, cleaning or food shopping. She never had done any of those, these are usually completed by their housekeeper.

Yeji felt because of this she cannot consider herself as an adult yet. Though she can ask her parents to get her a house, just like what they did for her brother, she felt it will be more meaningful if she did it on her own.

That will surely surprise them once she announced she already bought her own house.
