"You're so lucky to be leaving!" Candice repeats the sentence for the third time.
"Yeah," I say a little to less enthusiastically for her liking.
"Hey," she gets up with a concerned look on her face.
Uh oh. Concerned Candice is questioning Candice.
"Yeah?" I put up a smile.
"You don't look so happy," she notices and I sigh. She was right. I did not want to go home for Christmas or whatever.
"What is it?" She scowls.
"It's nothing..." I purse my lips.
Candice gives me a tight hug. "You can tell me, you know," she coaxes.
"There was a guy-"
"I knew it! I knew there was someone on your mind! Who is it?" She interrupted me. I face palm.
"Suspence is killing me, aah!" she dramatically stabs her chest. "Tell me, when did this guy happen?"
"At third grade," I snap.
"Wait... what?" She frowns.
"Look, Candice, I am going to be straightforward and detailed on the condition that you do not interrupt or question me in the middle," I say.
She presses her index finger on to her bright pink painted lips.
"Okay, so this guy and I were in the same school in Wales. I was the nerd with telescopic glasses, and he was the wallflower," I start.
"What a beautiful match!" she claps her hand, and I give her a deep look of disapproval. "Okay, okay, sorry," she raises her hands. "Tell me all of it."
"We talked a bit, and sympathized with each other, being the socially awkward lot and I... had a crush on him, but I never had the gut to tell him that," I admitted. "But I am sure he knew that, and then..." I bite my lip nervously.
"You hooked up?!" she estimates.
"Oh my God, no!" I scream. "He left. He talked to me about us, and he left, because he wanted to play football professionally." I justify hastily.
"Wait. Who is this guy?" Candice questions.
"His name is Aaron. He plays for Arsenal football club."
Her mouth hangs open. "And you din't even tell me! What kind of friend are you, Ivy? I mean like do you guys still-"
"There was nothing I found worth telling you. What would I say - there was a guy who was the only person I spoke to in school and I crushed on, and he knowing the fact, left me behind and today I can't even say whether he remembers my name or not." I rustle bitterly.
Candice sighs. "So, thats why you don't wanna go back home?"
"I don't know," I shrug. "That places reminds me of stuff I just don't want to remember."
