The story of Tấm and Cám

"Oh goby, oh goby
Go up and eat my golden and silver rice
Don't eat those spoiled rice and porridge of theirs."

The Story of Tấm and Cám (Vietnamese: Truyện Tấm Cám) is an ancient Vietnamese fairytale collected by L. T. Bach - Lan in Vietnamese Legends, which is split into two main parts: Tấm's life before she married the king and after that. The first part of the tale's plot is very similar to the European folk tale Cinderella, whereas the second part is not. The second part is controversial for its references to murder and cannibalism, and so there are edited versions of this part of the story in Vietnamese textbooks.
