Amora

'Can I please go to the rooftop.?' I asked him shyly.. Tugging his shirt as he made me lunch.

'Why?' He growled

'I just want to look at the moon.. And sit there alone for a while..' I said softly

He turned towards me and narrowed his eyes at me.
'Is this another one of your escape attempts?' He asked gruffly

'No I promise it's not.. ' I said genuinely

He hesitated..
'I'll let you go to the rooftop alone, with security around of course, if you give me a kiss on the cheek. ' he demanded

I wanted to say no but I really wanted to go on the rooftop tonight.. So I agreed.

'O-Okay' I said

His face lit up and he leaned down, I quickly kissed his cheek and tried getting away to sit at the kitchen stool, but he wrapped an arm around my waist.
'Uh uh. That was just a peck. I need a proper kiss.' He said and smirked at me as he looked into my eyes, his gaze flickered down to my lips and back to my eyes.
I gulped.
I gave him a hard kiss on the cheek and pushed him away and rushed to the stools.
He smiled and continued cooking as my cheeks turned red.

Nobody's pov-

A kiss on the cheek and some convincing worked well, she saw-
There was still security downstairs, and on the roof and next to the house, and there were no houses for miles, it was just trees and trees.

As she sat on the rooftop, the wind blew against her hair, pushing her raven black hair behind her shoulder, grazing softly against her neck, harshly against her face, the cold soothed her soul.
She let out a satisfying sigh.

Her eyes shined as she looked at the moon. She thought it was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. The scar-like patches on it looked like art to her. As she continued to stare at the sky, she hummed her favourite songs, the melodies soothing her.
It was for these little moments in life, that she believed life was worth living, that it was a gift. That no matter what hardships came along, such small moments would make it all better and us happier.

She remembered the friend she had in high school, he was such a lively guy, but school and his situations at home at made him dull..
His essence was dying..
And she had noticed.. Unlike others.
And there-after she had payed more attention to him, making sure to keep an eye on how he was doing and feeling..
He had always been a nice guy, they had quality talks while being lab partners.

One day, he told her how he was having suicidal thoughts..
Her heart broke with concern.
She wanted him to be happy and live life to the fullest.
She sat on her bed that morning deep in thought, she wanted him to realise that it was worth living.. That he deserved to live.

Impulsively, she invited him for a sleep-over, with a silly solution in mind. She wanted to give it a try.
Maybe she would be able to show him her point of view.

And with difficulties, he did come over.

They sat at her bed, looking at each other.

She smiled softly at him, he did too.
Her eyes held sadness, she saw the way he was breaking.

Throughout the day, she took him for a trek, they laughed and smiled, she talked to him with care and love, validated him, and always subtly let him know he was important.
They went to the grocery store to buy snacks, pushed each other in a cart and pulled a man's pants down and ran away laughing like maniacs.

Even though she knew doing these silly things wouldn't exactly get him out of suicidal thoughts..she knew she was showing him how he had so much more to explore, that there were people who would care for him and validate him, that he could laugh and smile all he wanted, that he was important and loved.
That night, they sat at the rooftop, looking at the same moon, listening to their favourite song.

The wind blew against them. And they breathed out a happy sigh.
She turned to him and smiled.
He turned his body towards him too and smiled.

She held his hands delicately and said, 'I might've made you do silly things today.. But I wanted you to know that these small moments are what makes life worth living, I love seeing you smile and laugh, I enjoy your existence..
I want you to live, because one day you will be able to enjoy your existence, enjoy these moments whenever you want, your life is yours to live.. And I wish you would let yourself know that you're happiness is in your hands. I want you to be kind on yourself, because I know you are doing your best.. And that's good enough.'

As he looked at her sincere eyes, his own welled up.
Tears washed down his cheeks as he cried in her lap.

'Thank you..' He said as he sobbed

'For what..?' She asked confused as she sniffled

'For showing me I am worthy to live..' He said

Her own tears fell, they hugged each other and she said, 'If you ever need me I will always be here..'
He nodded his head emotionally.

As the moment ended, she flashed back to reality and smiled at the memories.
He had a happy family now, his husband and kid loved him profusely.
She was glad that her effort was enough to help him a little through his hard times..
