Quirk: Light Manipulation

(THIRD PERSON POV)

The night was dark and silent tonight in the UA dorms. (Y/N) laid awake on her bed, not getting a wink of sleep.

Now, she hates to admit it, but due to her quirk being all about light, she hates the dark. She usually has to sleep with all the lights on, but ever since Aizawa-sensei once saw lights bouncing around in Kaminari's dorm and correctly assumed that Mina (one of the few people (Y/N) was on first name basis with), Kaminari, Kirishima, Jiro, Yaoyorozu, Sero, and Bakugo had been having a small mini-party, he had been suspicious and out them under hard security for a week. Sensei did not like the idea of parties without the teacher's or parent's consent, especially due to the amount of alcohol Kaminari, Sero, and Mina will sometimes bring to them.

After that night, Aizawa-sensei had claimed that if he saw one tiny flicker of light they'd get detention. Plus, he had informed all of them that he'd be staying guard all night. Then again, it was the pro hero Eraserhead we're talking about here... how could he not sleep?

So, quickly but quietly, (Y/N) reached for her nightstand and turned on a switch to turn on the fairy lights draped gracefully across her room.

It took her only a few seconds to realize that maybe Aizawa-sensei wasn't coming at all. She grinned widely before snuggling deep into her bed, but that was quickly interrupted in a matter of minutes. It was at that moment that a loud knock sounded across her door.

With a small gasp, (Y/N) reached for the light to the fairy lights, but missing and swinging her hand hard against the potted cactus she had sitting right next to the switch. She quickly yelped in pain, dragging her hand back so she could examine how bad the cacti had gotten her.

To make matters worse, the soft knock sounded again. But then afterwards, (Y/N) heard a shaking voice whisper through the crack of the door, "(N/N), are you okay?"

With a sigh, (Y/N) got up, her right hand that she had hurt in the cacti held lightly in her left. She heard the door and tore her left hand away from cradling her right hand, so that she could open the door. "Shoto," she sighed as she opened the door to reveal her slightly tired boyfriend, "you shouldn't be here. Aizawa-sensei could-"

But Shoto wouldn't take no for an answer the moment he saw (Y/N)'s hand. "Woah," he gasped as he lightly grabbed her hand, "are you okay? Did the cactus attack again?"

(Y/N) just sighed in response, "yep. You guessed it. But it's not too badly hurt, I just need to get the cacti prickles out. They're so thin it won't really bleed once they're out."

You see, this exact thing has happened many times before and due to, and (Y/N) had yet to move the cactus.

"I won't take no for an answer, (N/N)," Shoto responded with a bit of amusement shining in his eyes.

"You brat," (Y/N) hissed as she swiftly swept her hand back to her chest, "I can see that smile growing on your face. Do you think this is funny?"

"No," Shoto responded calmly, "it's just kind of weird that every time this happens I move your cacti somewhere else after you fall asleep. Then the next night it appears in the same spot again."

"Just come in already if you really want to be a nuisance to me," (Y/N) sighed in defeat, "and get the darn bandages while you're at it."

"Will do," Shoto replied with a small smile as he slowly walked into his girlfriend's room.

It only took Shoto and (Y/N) around thirty minutes to pluck the cacti prickles out of her flesh and apply Neosporin before bandaging it all up with some ace bandages. After they were done and proud of their work, they both laid down together in (Y/N)'s bed, smiling gleefully as they cuddled with each other, Shoto hugging her body close to his chest to let her soak in his warmth.

"Hey, Shoto," (Y/N) muttered softly in her newfound tired state.

Shoto looked down at her quickly, "yeah? Is there anything wrong? Can I do anything for you?"

(Y/N) then yawned and muttered, "thank you, but I suggest you stay here for the rest of the night. You never know when that cactus might move again."

Shoto let out a small, tired chuckle before nodding and murmuring, "don't worry, (N/N), I'll save you from the evil cactus."

"Thank you, Shoto," (Y/N) muttered with yet another yawn, "I love you so much. I really don't deserve you."

"I love you too, (N/N)," Shoto replied with a warm smile.

The next morning, (Y/N) woke up in a state of shock. She had just woken up in her boyfriend's arms, and had completely forgotten the fact that she had asked for him to stay there with her. "Shoto," (Y/N) exclaimed, shaking him violently as he slowly woke up from the action, "wake up, sleepyhead. Why the heck did you stay here last night? Aizawa-sensei might've seen. Plus, now that it's daytime, it's been more risky to go back to your dorm. If you leave from my dorm, sensei will know that we broke his beloved so-called 'rational' rules!"

"Sorry, (N/N)," Shoto murmured as he sat up and started stretching, "I can just sneak back. You have no clue how sneaky I really am. Honestly, I'm like a ninja."

"Dear lord, help me with this one," (Y/N) sighed, "but that still doesn't explain why you stayed here all night and increased the risk of us getting caught."

"I'm sorry, (N/N)," Shoto said as he looked at the all-famous evil cacti standing on the night stand next to the bed, "I just had to protect you from evil cacti."

(Y/N) looked puzzled. "Evil cacti? But... the cacti isn't all too evil," she responded as she titled her head.

Shoto just shook his head in response, "all plants show their evil in due time. Trust me, Fuyumi's made me watch Little Shop of Horrors around a hundred times by now. She loves musicals."

"Just leave, Shoto," (Y/N) rolled her eyes as she groaned in annoyance, "I'll see you later today."

Shoto smiled as he exited the room, "see you later, (N/N)." Then, quietly as he exited the room, he muttered under his breath, "I wonder which one of us will move the cactus back this time..."
