Jane Seymour was a lot of things, but a mistress wasn't one of them. Despite what the tongues of the court said, she had not bedded the king.

She never thought she needed to.

When she was summoned by her father and brother, she knew she was to be punished for her failure to not get the king to marry her sooner.

"Father, brother," she addressed them. "What can I do for you?" Her father cleared his throat. "Now that that wrench is Queen again, you no longer have a path to the throne-" her father was interrupted by her brother. "The only way to get rid of Anne is through death." He produced a small vial of some clear liquid.

Jane froze. "Is that poison? Are you asking me to poison the Queen?" She shook her head vigorously. "No. Murder is against God's will. I will not sin for my own selfish gain."

Her two companions frowned. "Then you have to find another way to get rid of Anne. Perhaps go to Lady Mary. She was prominent in the scheme against Anne."

Jane agreed. If she could do so without going against God, she would.

It was worth a shot.
