You just landed your first summer job at none other than Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. You know, the same old story, blah, blah, blah. You're in your 20s, just got out of college and you were just looking for a well paid job to land. Of course, the night shift wasn't exactly well paid, but you'd stick with that for now. At least, until you have a good financial baseline for your apartment.
So yeah. Here you are now, strutting down the street to ol' Freddy's. There were some bad rumors going around, but hey, nothing like a good ghost story to scare the kids, right? You didn't believe in any of that stuff for it to be true. Another employee opened up the building from inside and let you in for the shift. As you walked past him, the employee gave you a hopeless look. Like they felt sorry for you. You shrugged it off, not willing to let ANYTHING make you regret taking on your first job.

You wish you'd let that regret seep in earlier, because it was SINKING IN NOW! The entire friendly atmosphere of the place that had lingered earlier that day was down to an eerie, almost haunting feeling. Gripping onto your work bag slung over your shoulder, you felt like your presence was disturbing something more down there. But the security cameras had already caught you on footage inside the building. If you left now, someone would look and see you quit your job on the FIRST DAY. You definitely didn't want to have a bad reputation with your boss, so you stuck with your route. It was only your nerves getting the best of you, right? Just some first day stage fright is all. Speaking of stage fright, the animatronics up on stage looked rather frightening in this light. You just hurried to your security office. Hopefully setting up a little "home base" there would help. The office wasn't much of an office, at least, not as much as you'd expected. It was a desk in the middle of a large room, almost completely cleared out besides some toys and kids' drawings scattered on the ground. The long winding hallway stretched down from in front of you, and there were two large ventilation shafts to your left and right. You were left both confused and unnerved by the design choice of your new surroundings.
No matter. You still had work to do. The 12 am bell chimed throughout the building and you sat down in your seat, almost as if you'd been commanded to by the loud ring. Pulling up the monitor on your desk, you wondered if this was all the job was cut out to be. Seriously? Watching cameras for six whole hours? You didn't even think to bring some other accompaniment so you wouldn't fall asleep on the job.
There was another ring, this time much smaller. It came from a small telephone next to the monitor. You picked up the phone and held it to your ear to find a recorded message.
"Uh, hello? Hello, hello? Uh, hello and welcome to your new summer job, at the new and improved, Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Uh, I'm here to talk you through some of the things you can expect to see during your first week here and to help you get started down this new and exciting career path."
"Oh, okay!" You say to yourself, intrigued. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all, you could've just been exaggerating the eeriness since it was late at night.
"Uh, now, I want you to forget anything you may have heard about the old location, you know. Uh, some people still have a somewhat negative impression of the company. Uh... that old restaurant was kind of left to rot for quite a while, but I want to reassure you, Fazbear Entertainment is committed to family fun and above all, safety."
You were actually kind of relieved to hear someone here address those rumors. At least the company wasn't acting like they were nothing and just ignoring them.
"They've spent a small fortune on these new animatronics. Uh, facial recognition, advanced mobility, they even let them walk around during the day. Isn't that neat? But most importantly, they're all tied into some kind of criminal database, so they can detect a predator a mile away. Heck, we should be paying them to guard you."
You chuckled at his last statement, your nerves calmed a bit. This was actually pretty interesting, how this guy took time to explain everything to you.
"Uh, now that being said, no new system is without its... kinks. Uh... you're only the third guard to work at that location. Uh, the last guy finished his week but complained about... conditions. Uh, we switched him over to the day shift. So hey, lucky you, right? Uh, mainly he expressed concern that certain characters seemed to move around at night and even attempted to get into his office. Now, from what we know, that should be impossible. Uh, that restaurant should be the safest place on Earth. So while our engineers don't really have an explanation for this, the working theory is that... the robots were never given a proper 'night mode'. So when it gets quiet, they think they're in the wrong room. So then they go try to find where the people are, and in this case, that's your office." You sat there in some state of shock, your eyes wide and arms completely stiffened.
"So our temporary solution is this: there's a music box over by the Prize Counter, and it's rigged to be wound up remotely. So just, every once in a while, switch over to the Prize Counter video feed and wind it up for a few seconds. It doesn't seem to affect all of the animatronics, but it does affect... one of them. Uh, and as for the rest of them, we have an even easier solution. You see, there may be a minor glitch in the system, something about robots seeing you as an endoskeleton without its costume on, and wanting to stuff you into a suit... So hey, we've given you... an empty Freddy Fazbear head! Problem solved! You can put it on anytime, and leave it on for as long as you want. Eventually, anything that wandered in, will wander back out."
"Look, I appreciate the tips, but why couldn't anyone tell me this SOONER?!!" You yell out in frustration. It sounded like the guy recording was trying to keep you calm, or at least help you, while keeping a positive tone. You huffed and looked around your desk for the mask he mentioned.
"Uh, something else worth mentioning is kind of the quirky modern design of the building. You may have noticed there are no doors for you to close, heh. Uh, but hey, you have a light! And even though your flashlight can run out of power, the building cannot. So, don't worry about the place going dark....Well, I think that's it. Uh, you should be golden. Uh, check the lights, put on the Freddy head if you need to, uh, keep the music box wound up, piece of cake. Have a good night."
You slapped the phone back down onto the desk, silencing the recording. Your unblinking eyes gazed into the dark halls of the pizzeria that laid out in front of you. Y/N was nearly petrified, but somehow found herself standing out of her seat. There was no use in using the cameras, since half of them were too staticky to see out of. No use in staying either, you weren't going to risk your life for this job. Y/N slung her bag over her shoulder and stuffed the newfound Freddy mask inside. You stepped forward, one foot at a time, until you had fully immersed yourself into the shadows. The flashlight lit your only way, otherwise you'd be walking in blind. You did note what the guy said, that your flashlight would run out of battery.
There was some occasional clatter that would make your ears perk up. A quick shot of adrenaline would make you stomach twist, longing to be back in your office which you had deemed as safety.
"Worst case scenario, I quit the only job I can get and live with my parents until I find one," you grumbled to yourself. "Better than working in this hellhole." You reached the end of the hallway, turned left, and entered one of the party rooms. This one was near the show stage. In the other direction was the exit, to your relief. Now to sneak past the animatronics lined up onstage....
Y/N crept behind some of the party tables, catching glances of the animatronics. Chica, Freddy, and Bonnie. But they weren't onstage. They were standing off stage, talking to each other. You swore if you hadn't had a strong enough will to get out of this place, you would've fainted right then and there. Especially when you caught onto what they were saying...
"So, there's a new guard here?" Freddy asked. Your breath hitched.
"Oh, yeah there is," Bonnie smirks. "Poor Jeremy got spooked by the older guys. Haha! The guy was a loser, though. Don't blame Will for firing him." Your hand covered your mouth, trying your hardest not to scream, yet alone make a sound. The...older guys? I wonder what they mean.
"Bonnie!" Freddy exclaimed. "That's just rude! I thought the guard was rather nice, for a change."
"Yeah, but that still doesn't say anything about this one." Chica piped up. "Come on, Bonnie, we'll see for ourselves who this guy is." With that, both Chica and Bonnie started to walk your way. You started to panic, adrenaline once again coursing through your legs. If you took off now rather than if they reached you you'd have more of a chance to bolt for the exit.
You took that chance.
Y/N sprang up from the ground and sprinted for the door. Ignoring the surprised exclaims from the animatronics, you shoved the door open.
"New guard! Wait!" Freddy called frantically. Luckily, he didn't seem close behind. Once you were outside, you slammed the doors closed, scrambled to grab the building keys and locked the entrance. Could those guys open it from the inside? Probably. Do they know they could do that? Probably not. You still ran anyway. It was sad, first night watching the building and you couldn't last the first hour. Oh, well. You'd have to complain to your boss tomorrow to get out of this crap.

Y/N walked towards the pizzeria with trembling footsteps. Come on, feet, move!! Can't I process it's the daytime now?! People are going to be there like every other normal day, nothing is going to happen!
You finally shuffled your feet through the doors of Freddy's. The door jingled and you were met with a friendly aroma. Only this time, it didn't seem as forced. This was less..."artificial". People were really enjoying themselves here.
There were kids clamoring and running around. The carousel, once lifeless and still, was spinning with joy and color. It was hard to believe the hardened atmosphere that hovered around the building at night. Finally, your eyes ran across another employee giving more balloons to the empty handed Balloon Boy.
Jeremy.
Y/N nervously shuffled past the three tall animatronics on the show stage and approached Jeremy. He was around your age and height.
You grabbed and threw his shoulder over to face you. "Where can I find Mr. Ramsey?"
"Um...what about?" He asked nervously.
"None of your business. Where is he?" You growled.
"Oh you look angry. Are you going to ask him something? If you are, you could ask me. I probably know the answer, so it'll save time, I'm sure."
You groaned. You liked the guy, but sometimes he was a bit of a know it all. "Okay, I'm looking to quit from the night shift."
"Hmm...when did you start your first shift?"
"Last night."
"Wow, that was fast. Heh. You know, I can see why," he mumbled, his eye momentarily darting to Balloon Boy. "Sadly, you have to work the first week before you can quit."
"What?!!" You roared. Jeremy patted his hands down in a motion to calm you down. He was anxiously watching the customers around him for any judgmental looks.
"It's part of the contract. You signed a contract for the job, right?"
"YES, but I didn't see the part where I was forced into seven days of work!!"
"Yeah...they make it into kind of a legal thing--"
Y/N stomped away from Jeremy, cutting him off. You slammed your shoulder into the pizzeria doors and flung them open.
You weren't afraid of that place anymore.
You were furious.
