After Shadow Team's introduction to the UNSC and they're reassigned to the military, everyone, including the UNSC, has a hard time placing them and they are somewhat similar to the Spartan-2s, but at the same time didn't fully reveal they're true strength.
With the Covenant on the rise, and the pods of these men were going to be captured by them, the UNSC decided to send a Spartan and a member of Shadow Team to take back the pod or destroy it before the Covenant gain more information.
Hovering above the Planet, the UNSC Pillar of Autumn station itself above the area where the pods were last detected. Captain Keyes stood on the deck as he awaited two of the men to be summoned.
"You needed us", the Captain turns his head around and sees the men he was referring to: Spartan John-117 and Arthur (aka Shadow 1/actual).
"Yes", the Captain replied, "Arthur, we're sending a team of ODSTs along with spartan-117 here to retrieve you and your men's pods".
Intrigued Arthur crosses his arms and asked, "Covenant". Keyes nodded then Arthur asked again, "Orbital insertion to where Captain". Keyes showed the map of the planet and then marked the place of the insertion.
"You and Spartan-117 will lead the strike team to retrieve the pods", the Captain said, "Should any of the pods fell to the enemy's hands "before the Captain can finish, Arthur said, "Destroy the pods at all cost".
Keyes is surprised. He knew Henry and his men were indoctrinated to the UNSC just minutes ago, but knowing what to do? It's almost as if he'd done similar mission requirements before. Letting his curiosity aside, he confirms the mission and wishes both men good luck.
On the way to the drop pods, John began a small conversation between him and Arthur: "Are you sure you're okay with the mission".
Arthur replied, "Done this for years. What makes you say that".
"You were uncomfortable when it came to the pod"
"I was worried the enemy might have it. God knows, what they'll find there"
"Aren't you and your team supposed to know the contents"
"Those pods are life supports as well as a storage bay of ammunition, medical supplies, supplements and weapons. All to keep us alive on any world till back up arrives"
The two then made it to the ODST's view, "To be honest, I didn't know they're going to freeze us. Just hope this goes well". The two are then confronted by the ODST leader, "About time", he is a man of normal build and stood a few inches shorter than Arthur and more for John, "I thought the Captain forgot to tell you two".
Arthur then joked to the ODST leader, "He feared that as well", which earns him a chuckle from the ODST, "I like you, Arthur".
"Before we go, what's your name soldier", Arthur asked the ODST leader, before the latter front of him said, "Carmine Hickleson, call me Carmine". Carmine extended a hand to Arthur, which the latter accepted and shake hands
After that brief moment the rest of the squad, John-117 and Arthur entered the drop-pods and readied for orbital insertion.
"Just like the old days"
Arthur commented as each of the pods began their descent to the planet.
Upon crashing onto the planet, everyone escaped their drop-pods and began firing upon any Covenant troopers in their path till there is none to see nor hear.
The group gather around John as Cortana gave out a summary of the mission: "Your mission is to retrieve 6 pods or destroy them, should the Covenant have hold of one of them. I've marked the pods on your HUDs. Be sure to get them before they are taken off-world. Be quick and try not to die".
