"Give me a break." The masked murderess cursed under her breath as she stood up straight.
She looked at the dead man tied up to a chair in front of her. He was all drenched with his own blood, completely lifeless. He was neither too young nor too old, or maybe a little older. Though he was strong-willed to not utter a word, his body wasn't as strong as his will. Maybe it was because of his age, the masked murderess thought.
She carelessly threw the knife on the table along with other bloodied weapons and tools she used for the now dead man...
...And for the other captured men she had before.
Having her mood lost, she decided to dispose the body a little later. She took her bottle of wine and climbed up the basement stairs, making sure to lock the door before she proceeds her way.
She reached the second floor and flung the door open, letting the cold night breeze hit her. She sighed in comfort as she walked towards the balcony rails which already have cracks. The place she was in wasn't hers as she was only hiding in the shadows. The place was near the sea-- abandoned, dusty, and almost broken. Lucky for the masked murderess, it has two stories and one basement. Perfectly enough for her. Just a little clean up and she's good to go.
She took off her mask which was stained with blood to take a drink from the bottle of wine before putting it back on the rails. Looking at the waves being pushed by the wind through the silent night slowly made her calm down. Even the bright full moon was comforting for her as it reminded her of her past life.
Before she became like this.
"All this blood and I still got nothing." She exhaled as she looked at herself covered with the dead man's blood. A small laugh vibrated from her chest until she let it out vocally, her melodic laugh ringing along the sound of waves.
Still laughing, she didn't even notice a tear slipping down to her cheek. No one could tell if she was crying because of laughing, or if she was sad, or if she was becoming crazy.
She stared at the busy crowd at the other side from her hiding place. It's late at night, yet the kingdom's slaves were still being used and overworked. She unconsciously flinched when she saw a slave who fell down after being hit by one of the king's men. She clenched her fist at the sight and fought herself from rushing to where the slave was being hit. Instead, she closed her eyes and looked away. Although she looked away she made sure to remember the oppressor's face. She already has a list of who to capture but she decided to have this man inserted in the list.
King Ravn, she angrily thought as she took a sip of her wine again. What kind of king would let this happen? Some king he is.
No worries, I'll have you last.
Her solitude was then interrupted when she heard a loud bang from downstairs. A sound of metal also followed. It was the basement lock being broken, the masked murderess assumed. The smile on her face abruptly dropped as she realized what is happening. She took one last drink from the wine and wiped her mouth even with her almost dry bloodied hands.
"What a wrong time to be found." She rolled her eyes as soon as the footsteps were getting louder and louder, indicating that they are on the second floor and nearing to where she is. She wore her mask again in order to conceal how she looks.
"You are under arrest for murder!" A royal soldier at the center yelled, his gun pointed at the masked murderess who, on the other hand, looked unfazed as she turned around to look at them.
"What murder are you talking about, sir? I'm just a mere homeless lady trying to live in this old abandoned house." Though her words sounded like it were from an innocent lady, her tone and gaze screamed the opposite. She didn't even bother to look afraid.
