Sam thought he was used to loud sounds. After all he worked with a lot of loud machinery in his day to day life. However, this was a different kind of noise and even then he had been helping out with Tommy a lot recently.

However, the crow he held gently in his hands was screaming.

He smiled softly at it before realizing that it most likely was one of Philza's crows which would give him an excuse to visit the winged man. Which he had been wanting to do, but couldn't find a reason.

So, he started walking, heading towards the portal, but stopped just before entering, once again looking at the bird. Shouldn't it have flown away by now? If it was injured then Sama didn't want to risk the dangers of the nether and potentially get it more injured.

Turning around as he made his decision, he had to go home first to get ready for the trek in the otherworld.

He restocked his food supplies on him for the trip. At most it would be three days and at least two days. For now, he laid the crow on his back before grabbing everything his needed.

Once he finished, he turned to check on the corvid and it was sound asleep. A small smile came to his face as started his journey.

Sam walked a while without disruption. As night fell and he settled down in a clearing, the crow woke up. Seemingly in distress, but the creeper hybrid didn't know how to settle it.

Because of the noise, mobs were being drawn close, so Sam made quick work on a fire.

Soon, the crow would just occasionally caw out, but mostly stayed silent. Deciding to try to sleep, he laid down by a tree. The bird nestled in his fur, most likely still uncomfortable, but it was better than the ground.

Before he closed his eyes, a song came from the tree above him. As it ended, a stick hit him in the face and a crow swooped down at him.

The presence of the other bird calmed the littler one immensely as they nestled together. Sam smiled with a chuckle before they all feel asleep.

The next day as they move on, the one crow would fly around and sing. The other watched seemingly sad that he couldn't join the other. Occasionally, the songbird would bring the injured crow random objects it found on around the areas they travelled through.

Most of the day they walked through forests, but eventually they found a village.

They went through the village, just exploring it. Sam swore he kept seeing flashes of black in his vision as they did. As he wasn't able to trade as he didn't bring emeralds, so he just found the inn and got a room. Inns, thankfully, were usually free.

After making his way to the room, he placed the little crow on the nightstand which the other joined it quickly.

Smiling, he looked at them, "You guys are pretty close, huh?"

The crow hopping around nodded before settled down next to the injured one. Sam got comfortable, but once again before he could there was a tapping at the window.

Opening said window, he was greeted with yet another crow, this one holding a simple golden ring in its beak. Oh, it definitely stole that from someone, Sam mused with a small chuckle as he let it in. It cawed in delight at the sight of the other two causing the ring, which let out a small ting on the floorboards.

The two birds looked up and the songbird of the three flew over and around it in greeting. The little crow cawed from his spot. The newest of them flew down from the window sill and stood by for a moment, just inspecting until it remembered the ring it brought.
