Chaelee POV
We arrived at school just a few minutes before class started. I quickly darted to my classroom, luckily the teacher wasn't there yet. I head to my seat where my best friend, Somi, was waiting for me. Somi joined when we were about 8 or 9 years old and didn't speak English very well. And since I was the only Korean kid in the school at the time I had to translate everything for her and help her learn English. We became close almost immediately and we still are to this day.
"Yah! Why did you take so long?" She asked in Korean. When she speaks in Korean to me she's either: a) angry, b) hungry or c) annoyed.
"Sorry, I overslept" I answered back in Korean
"Hey! You guys know you're not allowed to speak in Korean at school!" Sophia complained.
Sophia is probably the most annoying, suck up, goody two shoes in the whole grade. No, in the whole school. Shes the "queen bee" of the grade and she and her squad act like they own the school. She even complained to the teacher that she didn't like it when Somi and I spoke in Korean because we might be "talking about her behind her back", so our teacher banned us from talking in Korean to each other at school.
(A/N NO OFFENCE TO PEOPLE WITH THE NAME SOPHIA! This is only for my character! If your name is Sophia pls dont be offended or anything like that)
We looked at her for a second, unfazed, and then continued our conversation in English
"This is why you must get and alarm clock" Somi chided.
"Do I really though? Why waste my money when I have Sunhae for that?"
"He isn't going to be around forever"
"Ill get an alarm clock when he's gone then"
We didn't get to continue though because our homeroom teacher, Mrs Ray, walked into the classroom.
"Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a good weekend. Here are a few announcements for the week. As you know, the Sunset Academy holds scholarships every year for the academic and cultural students and you normally only do one. This year, however, you can apply for all of them. If you excel in all you can receive a full 100% scholarship. The entry list is outside the office."
She took the register making sure everyone was there and quickly left for her first class. As soon as she left the class immediately started talking.
"OMG CHAE YOU SHOULD DO IT!!!" Somi almost screams
"Yah! Don't be so loud! And no I don't think I should"
"But your so good at everything~" She whines
"But so are you~" I whined back mimicking her tone
Technically we both weren't lying. We both had good grades and Somi had the voice of an angel. I preferred dance, but I wasn't half bad at singing. At least that's from my judgement, I only sing alone in my room.
"THEN WE SHOULD BOTH ENTER!!!" She shouts again
"SHHHHH! Do you want the whole building to know!? I don't know though, I'll decide at lunch and we'll go to the office then. For now let's just focus in class."
~time skip to lunch~
We hurry out of the classroom, first heading to our lockers, and Somi whined the WHOLE way.
"Pleeeaaaaaaaaseeeee"
"PlEeEEeaAAaAaAsE"
"PLEASEEEEEE YU CHAELEE YOU HAVE TO ENTER"
"Oh my gosh, Somi. You can be so annoying when you want something you know?
" I know" she said proudly
"Ughhhhh, ok fine, I'll do it!"
"YAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY" She screamed, making other people walking past look at us
"Wait you didn't let me finish. I'll do it, with one condition. You have to do it too."
"I- ugh ok I'll do it." She replied, trying to hide her excitement
"Good. Now let's go enter our names before I change my mind"
~time skip to outside of office because I'm lazy~
By the time we got there people had already filled up the first page. We flipped it over and entered our names on the already half full page. The first page also said the day and time of our slots, we were luckily at the same time. We had about a week before we had to go to the academy for the entrance exams.
"ONE WEEK!?" I gasped, horrified
"HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BE READY IN ONE WEEK!?"
