Chapter Twenty-Five: The Watchtower

The Watchtower, 5/26/2018, 10:00 AM

It had been only a few hours since Diana had discovered the horrible events of the previous night. Billy Batson had been slain fighting a new threat, a new enemy. There always seemed to be a new villain to bring danger and destruction to the world, Diana was growing tired of it. Evil had no intention of fading away. Now the League had to contend with two new enemies, the new cabal of villains that had kidnapped Kara, Tim, and Wally, as well as these new so-called Titans that now held Eddie in their hands. Not to mention the group of supposed time travelers that nearly killed the entire group in Egypt. 

Diana sighed, there was too much on their plate right now and they lacked the numbers to deal with it all at once. Shazam was one of the mightiest heroes amongst them and even he couldn't survive against these other-worldly warriors, what chance did they have?

She turned around to gaze around the meeting room of the Watchtower. Black Canary, the Flash, Black Lightning, Cyborg, Vibe, Atom Smasher, Katana, Obsidian, Sandman, and Crescent sat around the table awaiting Diana's plan. The Team stood nearby as well, they had earned their spot in the room. Wondergirl, Miss Martian, Kyle Rayner, Aquagirl, Supergirl, Blue Beetle, Robin, Kid Flash, and Terra, they were the future of the Justice League. Diana felt that one day they could carry the torch and protect the world, but that meant keeping them all alive too. 

Diana stepped forward crossing her arms facing all of the heroes, "The situation isn't looking good," She began, "Last night, we gained three new enemies. We lost two of our own and now we're here. We have our objectives ahead, find Eddie and stop Grodd and his allies from using that device on more people. Cyborg?" She looked to her friend who nodded back accessing the holographic imaging technology built into the table they sat at, it began to project a hologram of the Earth.

"Using the Watchtower's satellite imagery, we were able to track the ones who took Eddie." Cyborg said as a line began to appear on the globe in Egypt moving northwards, "We tracked them into Russia, it seems they're moving to a remote location about 150 miles from Moscow."

"It's clear that we cannot spare anyone from this fight." Diana nodded as Cyborg finished, "We now must contend with these apparent 'time-traveling' metahumans that attempted to kill Eddie as well. Since they have a spaceship, I'm guessing it won't be difficult for them to find him either. That is why we will move with the full force of the Justice League against this enemy. I have decided we will all head to Russia to deal with this immediate threat, that includes the Team."

The heroes widened their eyes all around, some seemed eager for the battle and chance to save the world, but others seemed concerned. The Team looked equally surprised, most of them held back smiles, but Diana sensed their determination to save their friend.

"Diana, what about Grodd?" Dinah asked raising a hand, "We can't be sure he won't take advantage of our absence and use his new weapon!"

The League and Team began to murmur amongst one another in confusion and concern.

"We will have to take that chance." Diana sighed, "We can return to our normal posts after this mission, but saving Kid Devil is our number one priority. We're low on numbers and man-power, but together, I believe we can stop these Titans from enacting their plan."

"They want to end the world." Blue Beetle announced stepping forward and lowering her mask, "Eddie is somehow the key to them doing it, we have to stop them before they can."

Diana widened her eyes and looked back to the League, everyone had stopped their confusion and disagreements and now held serious faces.

"Then we do this now, for Eddie and for the world. Are we in agreement?" She asked raising an eyebrow around the room and everyone nodded back without words.
