Chapter 8

[The scene transitions. Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, Simba and Nala cross a log in the jungle.]
Simba: Isn't this a great place?
Nala: It is beautiful. But I don't understand something. You've and Pikachu been alive all this time. Why didn't you two come back to Pride Rock?
Simba: Well, We just needed to [Simba rests his paws on a series of hanging vines.] get out on ourown. [Simba hops into the vines and lounges in them, as if they're a swing.] Live our own life. And we did, and it's great!
Nala: We've really needed you at home.
Simba:No one needs me.
Nala:[forcefully] Yes, we do. You're the king.
Simba: Nala, we've been through this. I'm not the king. Scar is.
Nala: Simba, [Nala rests her paws on the vines.] he let the hyenas take over the Pride Lands.
Simba: [shocked] What?
Pikachu: What's happening to the Pridelands?
Nala: Everything's destroyed. There's no food. No water. Simba, if you don't do something soon, everyone will starve.
Simba: [Simba flops in the vines.] I can't go back.
Nala: Why?
Simba: [Simba hops back down to the ground and strides away.] You wouldn't understand.
Nala: What wouldn't I understand?
Simba: Simba pauses and looks over one shoulder at Nala.] No, no, no. It doesn't matter. Hakuna matata.
Nala:[Nala tilts her head in confusion.] What?
Simba: Hakuna matata. It's something Pikachu and I learned out here. [Simba walks past Nala.] Look, sometimes, bad things happen...
Nala: Simba!
Simba: And there's nothing you can do about it. [Simba strides away.] So why worry?
Nala: [Nala hops off the log and pursues Simba.] Because it's your responsibility!
Pikachu: Simba, Nala, this isn't like the both of you.
Simba: [Simba glares down at Nala.] Well, what about you? You left?
Nala: [passionately] Pikachu friends and I left to find help! And we found you and Pikachu Don't you understand? You're our only hope.
Simba: Sorry.
Nala: What's happened to you? You're not the Simba I remember.
Simba: You're right. I'm not. Now are you satisfied?
Nala: No, just disappointed.
Simba: You know, you're starting to sound like my father. [Simba jumps off the log and strides away.]
Nala: [Nala turns to watch Simba leave.] Good. At least one of us does.
Simba: [Simba's expression turns to rage. He flips around.] Listen! You think you can just show up and tell me how to live my life? You don't even know what I've been through. [Simba turns and stalks off into the jungle.]
Nala: I would if you'd just tell me.
Simba:[without turning around] Forget it!
Nala:Fine!
Pikachu: I need to talk to Simba.
Oshawott: If you go we are with you.
Pikachu: Thank Guys.
[Pikachu and and his friends went to talk to Simba)
Simba:[Simba stalks into an empty field and begins pacing back and forth.] She's wrong. I can't go back. What would it prove anyway? It won't change anything. You can't change the past. [Simba pauses and looks up at the night sky.] You said you'd always be there for me and Pikachu! But you're not. [Simba ducks his head sorrowfully.] And it's because of me. It's my fault. It's my fault. *cries*
Pikachu: Daniel Tiger: It's Alright Simba, We're here for you.
Rafiki:♪ [from offscreen] Asante sana, squash banana, we we nugu, imi mi apana. [Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Simba glances up in irritation to where Rafiki is dancing in the trees.] Asante sana, squash banana, we we nugu, imi mi apana. Asante sana, squash banana, we we nugu, imi mi apana. [Simba,Pikachu his friends leaves.] *hums* [Rafiki swings onto a closer branch.] *chuckles* [Rafiki watches Simba depart.] ♪
Simba:[Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and crosses a log and sits, staring down at his reflection in the water below. They a rock disturbs the water. Simba, Pikachu and his friends looks up in irritation.]
Rafiki:♪ Asante sana, squash banana, [Rafiki hangs from a vine on a nearby tree.] we we nugu, imi mi apana. ♪ [Rafiki flips over.] Ooh!
Charizard: Come on. Will you cut it out?
Rafiki:[Rafiki drops from the tree. Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and turns to leave.] Can't cut it out. It'll grow right back! *laughs*
Simba: [Simba, Pikachu and his friends strides away.] Creepy little monkey. [Rafiki catches up with Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and strides away.] Creepy little monkey. [Rafiki catches up with Simba and hobbles alongside him.] Will you stop following us? [Simba halts.] Who are you?
Rafiki:The question is, [Rafiki leans in close.] who are you?
Simba: [Simba stares, mouth wide open. He bows his head.] Phew. I thought I knew. [Simba looks away.] Now I'm not so sure.
Pikachu: Yeah me too.
Rafiki:Well, I know who you are. [Rafiki grabs Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Simba's ear and tugs him closer.] Shhh. Come here. It's a secret. [Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and leans in close.] ♪ Asante sana, squash banana, [Rafiki dances away from Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Simba.] we we nugu, imi mi apana! ♪
Simba: Ugh! Enough already! [Simba looks over one shoulder at Rafiki.] What is that supposed to mean anyway?
Simba:[Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Simba walks off in the opposite direction.] I think you're a little confused.
Rafiki:[Rafiki materializes in front of Simba and jabs him in the nose. Simba Pikachu and his friends stops.] Wrong! I'm not the one who's confused. You don't even know who you are.
Simba:[Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Simba stalks off angrily.] Oh, and I suppose you know.
Rafiki:[to Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Simba's back] Sure do. You're Mufasa's boy and I know Pikachu parent.
Simba: Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Simba stops, Their mouth wide open in shock.] *gasps* [Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and look back at Rafiki.]
Rafiki: Bye.
{Rafiki disappears off stage right.}
{Cue music: "Lala" theme.}
Simba: Hey, wait!
Pikachu: Come guys follow that baboon.
[Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Simba chases after Rafiki. Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Simba runs through the field, over the log, and to the edge of the jungle. Rafiki sits cross-legged on a rock, eyes closed, meditating.]
Simba: pants* You knew my father?
Pikachu: You knew my parents too?
Rafiki: without opening his eyes] Correction: I know your father and Pikachu parents.
Simba: [Simba bows his head mournfully.] I hate to tell you this, [Rafiki opens his eyes.] but he died...a long time ago.
Pikachu: My Parents died a long time ago too.
Rafiki:[Rafiki lifts a hand.] Nope! Wrong again. [Rafiki darts away from Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Simba, who stares at him in confusion.] Ha, ha, ha! [Rafiki cavorts to the edge of the jungle, then turns back to face Simba and gestures dramatically.] They're alive! And I'll show them to you. [Rafiki waves Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Simba forward.] You follow old Rafiki. He knows the way. Come on!
Fennekin: What other choice do we have?
Infernape: Wait for us!
[Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Simba follows Rafiki to the edge of the jungle. He looks hesitantly over one shoulder, then enters. They crawls under and over dark, twisting foliage.]
Rafiki: Don't dawdle. [From a tree, Rafiki waves Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Simba forward.] Hurry up! [Rafiki races away.]
Simba:[Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and scrambles to follow Rafiki.] Hey, whoa, wait, wait!
Rafiki:[Rafiki pauses.] Come on. Come on! [Rafiki takes off again.]
Simba:[Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and tears after Rafiki.] *pants*
Rafiki:♪ [Rafiki runs through the branches of trees over Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Simba's head.] Asante sana, squash banana, we we nugu, imi mi apana! ♪
Simba: Would you slow down? [Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Simba slips and slides down a ridge. They hastily gets back up and keeps running.]
Rafiki:[from offscreen] *cackles* [Rafiki's voice echoes.]
Simba:[Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and runs, bulling his way through vines.] *grunts* [Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Simba looks up desperately at Rafiki.]
Rafiki: [Rafiki swings on vines overhead.] *laughs* [Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and continues to run and gets smacked in the face with a branch. Suddenly, Rafiki appears in front of Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Simba with his hand outstretched.] Stop! [Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Simba skids to a halt. Rafiki puts a finger to his lips.] Shhh. [Rafiki bounds over to some tall grass and pulls it aside. He motions with his staff and whispers.] Look down there.
Simba: Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Simba approaches Rafiki, and the twelve Simba approaches Rafiki, and the two exchange looks. Simba and Pikachu inhales, then enters a clearing with a pool of water. They peers down at their reflection, and his expression falls.] *sighs* That's not my father. [Simba and Pikachu sits up.] That's just my reflection.
Pikachu: That's not my parents That's just my reflection too.
Rafiki: Rafiki touches Simba's mane.] No. [Rafiki points at the water.] Look harder. [Simba and Pikachu looks back at their reflection, which begins to ripple and warp.] You see? [Pikachu Parents and Mufasa's face replaces Pikachu and Simba's in the water.] They lives in you. [Pikachu and Simba's eyes widen.]
Mufasa:[from offscreen] Simba.
Voice: [from offscreen] Pikachu.
Simba:[Simba looks up.] Father?
Pikachu: [Pikachu looks up.] Mom? Dad?
Mufasa:[In the clouds above Simba, Mufasa's ghost strides into view.] Simba, you have forgotten me.
Simba: Simba's mane blows in the wind. His expression is pained.] No. How could I?
Mufasa:[Clouds churn around Mufasa, outlining his head and shoulders.] You have forgotten who you are and so forgotten me. Look inside yourself, Simba. [sternly] You are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the Circle of Life.
Simba: How can I go back? I'm not who I used to be.
Mufasa:[Light shines behind Mufasa.] Remember who you are. You are my son, and the one true king.
Simba:[Simba stares in awe at Mufasa.] *breathes heavily*
Mufasa:[Mufasa's head retreats with the clouds.] Remember who you are.
Simba:[Simba chases the retreating clouds into an open field.] No, please! Don't leave me!
Mufasa:[from offscreen] Remember.
Simba:Father!
Mufasa:[from offscreen] Remember.
Simba:[Simba slows.] Don't leave me.
Mufasa:[from offscreen] Remember.
[Simba sits. The clouds clear overhead. A breeze stirs Simba's mane.]
Pikachu Dad:[In the clouds above Pikachu Parents's ghost strides into view.] Pikachu Your mother and I are very proud of you.
Pikachu: [Pikachu fur blows in the wind. His expression is pained.] Proud of what?
Pikachu Mom:[Clouds churn around Pikachu Parents outlining They head and shoulders.]To Protect Mufasa's son it was the right thing to do. Now you must help Simba take your place in the circle of life.
Pikachu: I can't.
Pikachu Mom: You must remember who you are.
Pikachu: I'm sorry. I don't know what to do.
Pikachu Dad: [Light shines behind Pikachu Parents] Your mother and I was most proud of one thing. Having you as our little Pichu.
Pikachu: That was a long time ago.
Pikachu Dad:[Pikachu's Parents head retreats with the clouds.] No, Pikachu That is forever.
Pikachu: Please. Don't leave me again.
Pikachu Mom: [from offscreen] We never left you. And never will. Remember who you are. Remember Pikachu.
[Pikachu sits with Simba]
Rafiki:[Bulbasaur, Charizard,Sceptile, Infernape, Staraptor, Riolu, Oshawott,Fennekin,Chespin, and Rafiki approaches from behind Simba and Pikachu .] What was that? Heh, heh! The weather. Pbbt! Very peculiar, don't you think?

Simba: [thoughtfully] Yeah. [Simba and Pikachu looks up.] Looks like the winds are changing.
Rafiki:[Rafiki strokes his chin.] Ahh, change is good.
Pikachu: Now, we know that my parents and Mufasa will always live inside our hearts.
Bulbasaur: What should we do now?
Simba: I know what I have to do,Bulbasaur But, going back means I'll have to face my past. I've been running from it for so long. Rafiki smacks Simba with his staff. Simba rears onto his hind legs and holds his head.] Ow! Jeez! What was that for?
Rafiki:[Rafiki spreads his arms wide.] It doesn't matter! It's in the past. *laughs*
Simba: [Simba rubs his head.] Yeah, but it still hurts. [Simba lowers his paw and examines it.]
Rafiki:[Rafiki touches Simba consolingly.] Oh, yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it. [Rafiki tries to hit Simba with his staff again, but Simba ducks.] Ah! You see? [Rafiki puts one hand on his hip.] So what are you going to do?
Pikachu: I believe Simba will give you the answer.
Simba: First, I'm gonna take your stick. [Simba grabs Rafiki's staff in his teeth and tosses it into the grass.]
Rafiki: [Rafiki runs after his staff.] No, no, no, no, no! Not the stick! [Rafiki grabs his staff. He turns back.] Hey! Where are you going?
Simba: [Simba runs off into the grass. He looks over one shoulder at Rafiki.] I'm going back!
Pikachu: So am I! Because I have to make sure that Pokemon and Animal living in harmony.
Squirtle: I'm totally on board as well.
Bulbasaur: Me too.
Sceptile: Count me in!
Chespin: Well if that's the case then. We'll go as well to help Simba face the past and reclaim the throne.
Infernape: Yeah, we come with you guys back to the Pridelands, too!
Riolu: I'll take a picture of Scar's pathetic face and sell it online!
Charizard: I'll go. We'll take down Scar like yesterday's newspaper!
Oshawott: Thanks for your advice, Rafiki.
Rafiki:Good! Go on! [Rafiki makes shooing motions.] Get out of here! *laughs* Whoo! *laughs* [Several shooting stars streak by overhead.] Whoo! [Rafiki lifts his staff over his head.] Whoo!
