Mother again brought me to another family function. I am so happy, yay! I love these kinds of functions where I can play with my cousins, especially Nolan and his friends. I went to look for him but mother stopped me.

"Darling, there's someone I'd like you to meet. This is Greta Easton and that is her daughter Hanah. They are Uncle Barney's family."

"Hello Theo. You are such a lovely mischief. How are you?".

"I am fine, thank you.", I answer a bit rudely as this meetup is taking away my play time.

Mother lightly smacks my head scolding, "What kind of behavior is this? Apologize to Mrs. Easton now, otherwise you won't be able to play with anyone."

At first I was annoyed but then got upset because my mother was angry. Greta Easton is also Uncle Barney's wife so it was wrong of me.

"I am sorry, Mrs. Easton. I won't ever do that again I promise."

"It's fine dear. Here-", Mrs. Easton takes out some chocolates from her bag and hands it over to me, "These are for you. You need energy to run. Can you take Hanah with you? This is her first time going out so she really doesn't know anyone."

"Of course, Mrs. Easton!", with that I extend my hand towards the girl, "Hello, I am Theo. Wanna play with me and my friends?"

Her skinny figure hid behind Mrs. Easton with her two charcoal colored ponytails sticking out of the corner.

"Sweetie, what's wrong? Theodore is a nice boy. Go play with him.", Mrs. Easton says.

"No! I won't!", the girl replies, "He is a boy and boys are mean!"

"I am not mean!", I whine.

"You were mean to my momma."

"I-I said I was sorry.........", my voice full of guilt.

"Hanah, enough!", Mrs. Easton chides, "I didn't teach you these kinds of manners. Say sorry to Theo."

The girl's lips quivers as if she is about to cry. I almost feel bad for her. I can see that she has no friends hence has no idea how to make them.

She yells, "I won't say sorry to him!". With that she dashes off somewhere.

Mrs. Easton sighs, "Please forgive her. As I said this is her first time attending an event like this, she really has no idea how to act around others."

"It's ok.", my mother reassures, "Give her some time ; she will come around."

Mrs. Easton turns to me, "I promise next time she won't be unkind to you. She has always been alone. I hope her rudeness doesn't stop you from being friends with her. "

"It is okay Mrs. Easton. I understand. I will try to be her friend.", I assure.

"Thank you my boy. Go and play with your friends now.", she says. I joyfully nodded and sprinted towards Nolan's room.

Loud laughter rings my ears as I open the door - to see everyone cheering and hi-fiving each other. Wicked smiles of satisfaction plastered on their lips. Maybe they all won a game they were playing.

"Why are you all laughing? Did you win any prize?", I inquire.

Nolan notices my presence and rushes me in a brotherly hug tightly, "Sit. You gotta listen to this.", he says.

All of us scooches over the bed huddling in the middle.

Nolan states, "We finally got rid of that annoying girl."
