Chapter 6
The plane was quieter when I was woken up, and I couldn't hear anyone speaking anymore. Only the dim lights were on, and it was dark outside the windows. Caesar was crouching beside me, unlocking the restraints. There was a blanket draped across the front of my shoulders, covering most of my body."Hi." He spoke softly, moving down to my ankle.
"What time is it?" I asked, rubbing my eyes with my free hand.
"Its late for us, early morning where we are."
"Oh." I muttered.
"Wait here one second, okay?" I nodded and he walked towards the front of the jet. He came back a second later with a big winter coat, long and puffy with fur on the hood.
"Where are we?"
"Somewhere very cold."
"Where?"
"Greta, if you don't put in this coat before they open the door, you will be freezing." He informed me, offering his hand. I took it and stood up, and he held it behind me for me to put my arms in and zip up. He left again for a moment and returned with socks and real shoes, some boots, for me to put on. I sat back down and put them on, while he grabbed a jacket for himself, much lighter than mine I may add, and spoke to the pilot.
I stood back up when he came back, I was hot now and wanted to get off the plane. He wrapped the blanket around my shoulders, and pulled my hood tighter. I heard the door being opened, and the plane did in fact get a little bit chillier."Are you ready?" He asked, showing some genuine care.
I nodded and he lead me to the front, and down the stairs. It was definitely colder than Italy, and I was grateful for the coat, although a jacket would have sufficed. The walk to the car was also about 20 yards, so I really could have made it in the dress. Whatever.
I just held the blanket around my shoulders and followed him as he opened the back door for me, and climbed in next to me. We both awkwardly took off our jackets in the warm car, and he pulled mine from under me, and put it with his on the seat beside me. I readjusted the blanket on my shoulders, after all I was still wearing a sundress, as he spoke to the driver in a language I didn't understand. The car began moving, and he leaned back into his seat beside me.
"Buckle."
Everyone knows the middle seat belt is the most uncomfortable. He probably doesn't want me between him and the door, so he wouldn't probably not switch with me. "The middle seat belt is uncomfortable." I said, a little pleadingly.
He turned his body a little to look down at me. "You know what else is uncomfortable? Being paralyzed."
I rolled my eyes and just reached for the seat belt. I just wanted one thing, and I made a point to squirm from the discomfort of the seatbelt. He noticed, and seemed bothered by my movement.
He wrapped an arm around my shoulder and pulled me into him, holding me still."Caesar." I whined.
"Shh. It's a long drive." He seemed genuinely tired, so I gave up and closed my eyes, hoping to fall asleep.
The daylight woke me up a few hours later, and I had no idea where we were. Outside looked cold and frozen over, but not in a winter wonderland kind of way. My head was on Caesars lap now, and his hand was resting on my shoulder. The other was holding a phone, resting on his knee.
The phone was in my view, and I tried to seem as if I hadn't woken up so I could see what was on it. It was a long text message, and my eyes struggled to find the start of a sentence. He picked up his phone all of the sudden, and leaned back further in his seat, his butt sliding forward. I slowly sat up, as if I had just woken up. He hadn't taken my seat belt off, and it had created an imprint on my side.
