Sydney's Pov

I had woke up out of my sleep and heard the wind blowing super hard. I then checked my phone with slit eyes and seen it was 2 in the morning. I sighed and turned it back off but, when I rolled over to start going back to sleep, my tv turned on by itself and it was super loud. I tried finding the remote but I couldn't find it so it was just some random show playing super loudly. I was freaking out and as I still couldn't find the remote the tv just turned off. It was quiet as a mouse again but this time the silence was loud. I could practically hear my own heartbeat.

"Gus?.."

There was a huge thump on the floor and I backed up on my bed. When I tried reaching for my lamp to turn it on though something swung it across the room and it crashed on the floor. I screamed and got underneath my covers but my covers were snatched off of me, too. Then my closet door sprung open and I was staring into a pit of darkness.

"Gus!!"

I kept screaming his name and after awhile he appeared.

"Hey! Hey, it's me! I'm here!" "Someone was in here! Someone was here just now!" "Sydney! I need you to calm down..look at me.."

I was still staring into the closet and Gus grabbed me by the arms which made me look at him.

"Calm...down...and breathe with me.."

I started to breathe with him and after awhile my heart was back at normal speed.

"Now..tell me what happened." "I was asleep and the wind woke me up..then out of nowhere the tv turned on and it was super loud so I tried looking for the remote to turn it off but I couldn't find it... and after awhile it just turned off by itself and it was quiet but not a regular quiet it was like..like I was in another dimension or something. Then when I tried turning on the lamp something swung it across the room and broke it.." "Did anything else happen?.."

I looked towards the open closet again into that same darkness I was looking into before Gus came. I kept my eyes on it while I spoke.

"The closet door swung open and I felt someone there but...I didn't see anything.."

I looked down and felt tears coming.

"I know you probably don't even believe me.." "I do. I do believe you and I'm sorry I left you here alone." "It's not your fault Gus. I just..I was really scared.." "I know." "Stay with me until morning...please..I don't wanna be alone.." "Okay. I'll stay." "Unless you don't want to..." "I want to. I wanna make sure you're safe. Now come here."

Gus opened his arms to me and I got into them. He always made me feel so safe.

"I want that door closed, too." "Okay. I'll close it."

He closed it softly with the wave of his hand and I latched onto him more.

"Someone was there and I really hope you believe me because I wouldn't lie to you.." "I don't think you're lying. I swear I don't, I believe you and I'm gonna stay here the rest of the night. To keep you safe. Whatever happened probably happened because of me anyways." "That's not true and don't you dare sit here and blame yourself." "Fine. I won't if you get back to sleep." "Okay.."

I got up, got my covers from across the room and laid back underneath them in my bed.

"Promise you'll stay all night?.." "I promise."

I grabbed his hand and held it as I started to fall back asleep and before I knew it, everything went black again.

Gustav's Pov

I was looking at Sydney being asleep and she looked peaceful. I felt bad that she had been so scared though and I wanted to know what had scared her. After awhile I heard a voice from across the room though that brought me out of my thoughts.

"You're watching her sleep now?"

I recognized Julian's voice and said,"What are you doing here?" "Just came to check on my two love birds of course." "Well, I needed to ask you something anyways." "Something like what?" "Like how Sydney woke up out of her sleep and had an encounter with something she couldn't see." "What do you mean?" "I mean that when she was woken up, she said her tv turned on by itself and it was super loud, then it turned off by itself, and her closet door slammed open and she said she could feel that someone was here." "That doesn't sound good." "Whoever it was, was also able to interact with things because they grabbed her lamp and threw it across the room making it shatter." "This is not good." "Meaning you know what's going on?" "I think I might but..I've only seen it happen once or twice." "What is it?" "Sydney might've encountered an evil spirit. And it passed through because you're still here..interacting with the real world."

He tried getting close to Sydney and I said,"What are you doing?" "I'm going to wake her up." "Why?" "So I can replay the moment and see it from her point of view." "No. How would you even do that?" "I'd put 2 fingers on each side of her forehead and ask her to think of it again." "No. I don't want you messing with her head." "I have to if you want me to figure out what she seen so I can know what we're dealing with." "Leave her alone."

As soon as Julian was about to say something else Sydney started stirring then she woke up.

"What the hell are you guys doing?.."

She rubbed her eyes and I sighed.

"Nothing. You can go back to sleep." "What's Julian doing here?" "I don't know. You know how he just shows up out of the blue all the time." "Yeah, he does."

She started going back to sleep and Julian said,"No sweetheart, I actually need you to get up so I can figure out what scared you."

She got up again and tried reaching for her lamp until she remembered it was broken.

"Do you know what it was?" "I think I might. If you just think about everything that happened, I can try and see what you saw and see what it was that scared you. What was invisible to you should be visible to me." "Well, what do you think I saw?" "I think you saw an evil spirit and I think it might've happened because Gus is still here interacting with the real world and with you." "Okay. I'll let you try and see what it was." "Okay."

I kept my head down because of Julian saying it might've been my fault. I didn't want to be putting Sydney in danger which is why I didn't want her and Julian working together but, I guess I was putting her in danger anyway. While I was thinking though Sydney set a finger underneath my chin and lifted my head up.

"We're gonna figure this out okay? I don't think anything is your fault and..I'd like to hold your hand while Julian figures out what that thing was.." "Are you sure you want me here?.." "Yes I'm sure." "Okay."

I sighed and then waited on Julian to do what he said he'd do, hoping whatever Sydney seen was at least fixable and that we could make it go away if we needed to.
