About a week later, once they had unpacked nearly everything Lily Ann had decided they needed to have a garage sale. I was finding that more and more clothes in my closet because of shopping with Kelly was making it so that nothing would fit in there anymore. Not to mention Kelly was growing out of a lot of her toddler toys and wanted to get rid of them somehow regardless.
I figured this would be a good way to welcome herself to the neighbourhood without being obnoxious and going to every door with a casserole. I had told Kelly just that and the woman had giggled so hard snot was coming out her nose. I liked to see her laugh like that just because it made me laugh as well.
I asked Kelly to come over and help me sort out the rubbish from everything else. It had turned into quite the evening for both of them, I hired a babysitter and the two women had gone upstairs to sort clothes.
When Kelly got to the door I noticed there was something in her hand but didn't mention it until they were upstairs.
"What do you have there?" I asked and Kelly laughed.
"I have what all women crave, wine!" She said excited, "I haven't had wine for so long, but tomorrow I don't have any appointments which means I get to sleep in, which means I can get as drunk as I want tonight."
I didn't really drink much alcohol since Brittany had been born.
"Maybe one glass." I said and Kelly gave her a knowing smile, "I'm serious."
"You need to loosen up and let go." Kelly said and her eyes instantly widened, "Oh my, I am so sorry."
I looked down for a moment and seemed to pick up her hearts armor before she looked back at her friend.
"It's okay, you're right. It's been almost a year since what happened. The thought of him doesn't make me want to cry anymore but..." I started to tear up a little.
"I understand, all I meant was that we should have lots of fun tonight." Kelly put her hand on my shoulder and for a moment they didn't say anything but then I looked at her closet.
"Then that's exactly what we'll do."
