Toontown Rewritten is a place full of toons of different species, and is a place for fun and relaxation. There are only a few rules that the citizens of Toontown must follow to keep the silly meter levels high. One of the minor rules with a big punishment, the only one that is rarely ever broken, is rule #5: Never, shall any toon mate with any other toon of a different species. No one knows for sure why this rule is there. Some speculate that Flippy, the mayor of Toontown, doesn't want hybrids around, because they might be more powerful and overrule him. Others just live with the rule, and enjoy their lives with an equal and opposite of themselves. A very small amount of toons who don't think the law is fair, defy the rule puclicly, and they are never seen from again. This mystery of Toontown has yet to be solved. Five friends just seem to be entwined with this rule wherever they go. Their story begins here.

*Clove's POV*
"I can't believe we actually did it for real this time," I said, slipping on my shirt, buttoning it slowly.

Von and I both wear secret smiles on our face.

"How come," Von asks as he slips on his pants, zipping them up.

I give a short, quick laugh. "Because we only got married yesterday, duh." I go to the bed, referring to the bed and sit for a few moments while closing my eyes. I recall how good it felt, how good he felt on me. We were two pieces of a big puzzle, and we just so happened to fit together, no matter how much anyone tried to deny it. I closed my eyes and took in a deep gulp of air, and just tried to save the moment. I got up, going back to reality, and I grabbed my skirt off the floor where it all began, and Von turns to me. He has a faraway look in his eyes. "Not really," he whispers. He reminded me of rule #5 and how we shouldn't be intimate. We shouldn't be married. We shouldn't have kids.

Whenever I think of what might happen if anyone finds out about our relationship, even before we got married causes me to go into a mental breakdown. I can't think, I can't breathe, I can't speak. I get so worried that if any government official finds out, I might never see Von again. That is what hurts the most. The only people who know that Von and I got married are my best friends, Trickysmirk, Chip, and Thomas. They were the only ones at the wedding. Oh yeah, Trickysmirk and Chip hide from the law too. But they aren't married.

Not yet, I think. I smile, because their sudden love was unexpected and so adorable. All five of us, Tricky, Von, Chip, Thomas and I have been best friends since like, forever, and I never even though that Trickysmirk would ever be interested in Chip. They are the cutest thing ever, the way they blush when they're around each other, and how flustered they get when they talk to each other. It's like watching a movie when you just want to scream at the actors, "JUST KISS ALREADY!"

Unfortunately, I slip back into reality, and remember that my life is not a movie. I can't change the fact that loving him is illegal. Or the fact that cross breeding just wasn't allowed. It's not fair, I think. Why are natural desires a crime?

"I love you, Von," I said suddenly, my skirt still in my hands. It was unintentional, but I meant it. He walked over, still shirtless, and he looked me in the eyes for a long time, and I longed for the next time we could get together. He crashes into me, and for what seems like eternity, we are the only toons in the entire world. "I don't care if we can't be together," Von says in a muffled whisper I almost didn't hear. "I want you, and only you." He leans in again, and I want to stay in that moment forever. Out of nowhere, the moment is over, and Von pulls away suddenly, as if he got hurt.

"Von? Are you okay," I ask, concern lining my voice. "No, I'm not," Von answers. He says it as if it were a fact he wanted to tell the world. Von was absolutely not okay.

"Do you understand how much it hurts when I don't see you, Clove? When I can't touch you in public, or kiss you or anything?" Von lowers his face, and I walked over to him, still not completely dressed, and hold his face in my hands. I lean closer, and electricity buzzes between us again. At that moment especially, we are connected by more than just wires.
