                For Her🌹

Maami did not think Anya was the right one for me
But i saw it in her eyes. They were as beautiful as the sea.
Her full name, Anyanwu- eye of the sun,
Those eyes. The brightest. Second to none.

Oh well, the truth is maami was a bit tribalistic.
I guess that's where her doubt came from, if I'm being realistic.
"All these omo Igbo, i don't trust them" she would often say,
But it was too late, Anya had stolen my heart, from the very first day.

It was a beautiful rainy day in September,
A day my heart, body, soul and spirit would always remember.
She walked down the lobby swaying her hips, left and right
Goodness! How my eyes struggled to contain the sight!

"Hey there, I'm looking for the nurse in charge of ward four" i managed to put in.
I bit my lower lip, hoping i didn't sound too sullen.
"and you are?". She turned back, almost shinning her "thirty-two".
Then, i hoped again, she didn't notice how badly i wanted to smile back at her too.

There and then, i fell in love with an angel.
If it was something about her eyes, or her smile or the tone of her voice, i couldn't tell.
All i know is my heart didn't search too far,
Before it found its root and everything it wanted to do... wanted to be.. was FOR HER.
