"I will help you get what you crave, Valda."

————————

Merricks POV

I break eye contact with Valda ,and try to focus on something else in the room, to somehow break the trance that I pushed her into doing on me. As I bring my hands up to my face and place them over her own. I bring the back of one of her hands to my mouth as I kiss it, trying to make her realize I am of no threat to her.

Valda POV

I swalllow hard as i feel his warm, soft lips make contact with my hand. I slowly start to feel my head clear of the fog that was clouding all of my rational thoughts. The small peck of his lips, causes a warm and fuzzy feeling to settle in my stomach. On the inside I am melting , but I keep my face clear of any emotion as I gently tug my hand away from his comforting grasp. Why do I feel like this, its like some thing is speaking to me, telling me to stay close to him. When my hands are rested at my sides, Merrick finally lifts his eyes back up to mine. When he stands it's like he is towering over me.

"Wanna explain?", He ask while his hand comes up to rub at his jaw. For the first time tonight I really take in what he is wearing. Loose, dark red, satin sleep pants, hanging low on well defined v lined hips, a set of abs that glisten with a light coating of sweat.......snap snap snap.

I'm brought back into the land of the living, by Merrick snapping his fingers infront of my face with a knowing smirk. I look away with a small blush, clearing my throat I ask, "What was that?". I honestly can't remember the question.

"I said, would you like to explain what just happened." He stares at me awaiting my answer but I don't know how to answer him.

"It's my gift." I reply hesitantly. No one but Ada, and who ever tried to kill me when I was younger, knew about my ability to control other living things and objects with my mind. Everyone that usually witnessed it would be dead. I hate my gift, all that it is good for is death.

"Hmmm." He replies deep in thought. "I have one too."
"Well doesn't everyone?" I reply before I can think about what I'm saying.
"Yes." He walks over to the large very comfortable couch in his very expensive room and plops down. Huh. Very un- prince like, might I add. His wings wrapped around him like a cover.
"But, not everyone's gifts are as powerful as ours." I nod, like I understand what he is talking about. Gift. Powerful. Got it.

He laughs at my confused face, before he goes serious. I feel the need to squirm with the look he is giving me. Starring at me intently.
"I will help you get what you crave Valda." He looks at me with such promise.

"Why?" I ask honestly not knowing what else to say. No one in the past three years has offered to help me like this.
Of course there was Ada, but in the beginning her mother forced her to help. We grew closer as time went by.

"Me and you have similar wants Valda. Price to be dead." He lets out a heavy breath, as he closes his eyes, and continues, "And I believe that we can be stronger together." I am standing, starring at him with disbelief, as he smiles and lets out a fake yawn. "You will hear from me when I feel its time. Until then, beautiful." Not ready to be dismissed yet, I march over to the couch where he is laying. I notice his wings twitch as I near him. I place my hands on my hips. "But-". He opens his eyes and looks up at me. His bright burning red eyes with specks of gold and black.

"Nope, goodbye Valda.."
I feel the urge to stomp my foot but I resist.
As I walk back over to the window I turn back to him once more, "Goodbye, Prince Merrick." As I make my exit I cant help it as a small smile appears on my face. I rather work alone, but maybe it won't be so bad having a little help for once. Only how am I gonna explain the reason he's not dead.

As I make it back home and I am walking down the hall to my office, as I notice Ada stepping out of it. "Was there something you needed Ada?"
She looks startled as she turns to me.
"Oh-no I just forgot something in there yesterday, and went to retrieve it. How was the assignment?"
"Oh don't even get me started. I will fill you in tomorrow, for now I'm gonna try and get some rest."
"Ok, rest up , you deserve it, Valda. Call for me when you wake." With that she walks past me. As I enter my office and set down at my desk I notice some of my papers have been scattered around, hmm, I must have been a little more messy than I thought. After I get done cleaning up a bit, I leave to my bedroom to lay down, but first going to take a much needed shower

As I lay on my bed, I try to think of what my mother and father would tell me to do in this situation. Am I making the right choices? Would they be proud of me? I scoff to myself, of course not Valda, who would be proud of a killer.
