I don't think it, I know it

Short story - based on a series I just watched called After Life and OH MY GOD it's good but it destroysss you!

"Hey bubba!" Scarlett smiled as she rubbed your back when you flopped next to her on the sofa where she was with Rachel, Florence and David.

"How did you enjoy your day off sweetheart?" Rachel asked.

"I caught up on some TV show that I've been meaning to watch but kept putting it off."

"Why did you keep putting it-" Florence began.

"It's called After Life, it's about a guy whose life has gone down hill after his wife died of breast cancer!" you answered quickly rising your head up from the pillow but then after finishing your sentence burying your face in the pillow again.

"Ok so that why!"

"It basically follows his life after the loss of where he contemplates suicide and then realises that he should live to like sort of, I don't know how to explain it, he decides to live long enough to punish the world for his wife's death by saying and doing whatever he wants!"

"Oh well you've had a cheerful day!" David sighed loudly earning a glare from Rachel and Florence. "What? What did I say?"

"I swear to Jesus!" Rachel mumbled.

"You ok?" Scarlett asked as you sat up and leaned on her shoulder. "You wanna talk?"

"Nah I'm alright, surprisingly! Just made me think! It's very deep. I mean I'm doing Theology and Philosophy for A-Level so maybe that's good but-"

"Made you think about after life?" Florence questioned with an eyebrow raised. 

"God no not that deep, just made me think if people who are no longer here are watching over us, you know keeping an eye on us?"

"Oh wow!" David widened his eyebrows getting up to refill his water bottle. 

"Do you think he's/she's looking over me?" you looked up at Scarlett.

"No." she answered immediately making your eyebrows raise. "I don't think. I know he/she is." she smiled making you smile.

"Really?"

"Really! You know what else I know?" you shook your head. " I know that he/she is extremely proud of you!"
