Adeline Talia Hale had just pulled up to the old burnt down Hale house. She stared at the house allowing her many memories to flood back.
Young Adeline Hale noticed smoke accumulating around her room and whispers a quick spell making a small shield appear around her, shielding her from the smoke and the fire.
The auburn haired girl pushed her hand towards the window in her room. "Concutere." The window shatters allowing the young girl access to leave the house with a chance of survival.
Adeline's mother - Josette - was born from a witch bloodline, but her father - Peter - was born from a werewolf bloodline.
What does that make her your probably wondering.
She was born a werewolf and a witch.
A hybrid.
But her witch side was different from other witches. She couldn't generate her own magic but she could steal it from others.
A while after the fire she had ended up in New Orleans. There she had met Rosalie Smith and Cole Branson.
Cole was the original and - besides Adeline - only hybrid people knew of.
Rosalie was a vampire and a strong one at that.
People guessed it was because she was older.
The couple had taken the young girl in noticing she was all alone. They had helped her control her powers and sent her to school.
But when Adi, Cole, and Rosalie caught wind of Laura and Peter Hales death, as well as a new Hale alpha running around Beacon Hills Lina - as Rosie liked to call her - made her way towards the town that had broke her.
Adeline blinked away the tears that clouded her eyes remembering the tragedy that struck her family, and started to walk towards the Hale home.
She was so deep in thought she didn't even hear someone walk up behind her.
Derek Hale watched as a familiar auburn haired girl stepped out of her car and just stared at the Hale house. He had enough when she started walking to the burnt down home.
He silently walked up behind her as she ran her hand over the porch railing.
"What are you doing here?"
Adi gasped in shock not hearing anyone behind her.
Once she turned around she saw one of the last people she expected to see. Her older cousin Derek Hale. To say she was nostalgic was an understatement. Every time she would sneak in his room because of a nightmare or vision because she didn't want to tell her parents he would ask her that very question.
But question she was asking herself right this second was does he even recognize me?
"Derek Hale, do you not recognize me?" She questions her voice full of sass.
Derek furrowed his eyebrows confused then he put the pieces together. His jaw dropped. "Adeline?"
The auburn haired girl sighed in relief "thank goodness you remember me! I thought I was gonna have to drive all the way back to New Orleans!" She exclaims walking down the porch steps wrapping her arms around her cousin.
Derek returned the hug rubbing his cousins shoulder.
Adi closes her eye and lets a sigh of relief escape her lips.
"Adi?" He states catching her attention. "Where have you been all these years?"
"New Orleans, Cole, Rosalie, and I heard about Laura and my dad dying and I left to find the alpha which I'm guessing is you..."
"I'm sorry, Adi. Your dad killed Laura, then I killed your dad for revenge; but he killed Kate and everyone involved in the fire..." Derek trails off. "Who is Rosalie and Cole?"
"They're the couple I've been staying with in Louisiana... they're vampires and they've been helping me control myself. They treat me like family" she says making Derek hum in understanding.
Derek pulls the girl back in for a hug making her smile.
"Derek..." she states getting ready to ask him a question, making the pair pull apart. "Do you think that if I came back and my dad was still alive he could've been redeemed?"
Derek sighs "I don't know Adeline. He did awful things while he was alpha. He tried to kill me, he tried to kill a bunch of teenagers, not to mention the people he did kill..."
"I know, it's just..." the werewitch starts but cuts herself off. "Never mind."
"What was it Adi?"
"Never mind Der. It was stupid anyway."
After being in town for a little while Adeline had learned that Derek had already given the bite to two kids. One of them who was a rich kid who didn't care about anyone but himself and the other was a quite kid who kept to himself. Adi also learned that the boys father was abusive which made the girl feel bad for him and hoped the bite would take to give him some power over his awful excuse for a father.
But where her father was concerned Derek had told his cousin why her father went on a murderous rampage. He had told her that her father didn't know what he was doing while he killed their sister and cousin. That his mind was in auto-drive. He killed everyone involved in the fire and had bit a kid.
Of course, Derek didn't want the girl to have an awful image of her father so what he said was mostly a lie. Peter Hale knew what he was doing when he killed Laura Hale and Derek was glad the alpha was dead.
