Previously on War Is Over Peter Hale tells his nephew there's a way to save them... but only one of them.
Meaning Derek Hale would have to choose, his sister or his cousin.
Derek Hale didn't want to choose between Cora and Adeline Hale but he had to and it would be his sister without hesitation.
So that was what he was doing, saving his sister and relinquishing his power much to his uncles warnings and pleas to save his daughter.
Derek grabbed Cora Hales arm taking her pain as her eyes shoot open.
Black veins travel up his arm as he roars in pain and Peter watches his daughter fearfully glancing at his nephew and niece ever so often.
He wanted to save his daughter but there was no alpha who would sacrifice their power for a Hale. Especially a dangerous one.
Josette Hale never stopped looking for a spell to save her daughter. Rosalie and Cole also searched for a witch to help but there was no spell that could help her.

Cora Hale woke up with a slight gasp and saw Peter Hale setting over a body with tears in his eyes.
She glanced down to see Adeline Hale's head laying in her fathers lap, with her mother stroking her hair. Her face as pale as it could get, she was sweating, and shaking uncontrollably before her heart finally stops and her body stills.
"What's wrong with her" Cora asks her uncle fearfully.
Peter looks up a tear finally falling down his face but he quickly wipes it away, "she's dead" he mutters.
In the other half of the room Rosalie Smith, and Cole Branson watch in shock as Peter Hale holds his dead daughters body, not coming to mind that she has Cole Branson's vampire Hybrid blood running through her veins from hours before.
