My heart nearly drops to my stomach. I didn't know a whole lot of Norse mythology but I knew enough to know the name of Loki's wife. I look back at my new step-sister. She curtsies, more gracefully than mine. Everything that I had thought about her has now changed. She is now more than my step-sister, she is my rival.

"Nice to meet you little sister." Her smile is not kind.

I smile back at her. My best smile. I have to be smart about this. I can't lose to her or anyone. I was lead into the house and shown my room. Thankfully I had a room to myself. It became my sanctuary. My life changed drastically. It was apparent that my step-father held no love for me. Not like my real father. He had loved me. My own mother did nothing about it. She focused all her attention on Sigyn. And then a year later, she gave birth to my baby brother.

One day when I was seven, I was walking down the halls of the manor. I was heading outside to play when Sigyn stepped into the hallway. She ran up to me.

"Where are you going little sister?" She always said those words with a hint of malice in them. Why she hated me I didn't know. I couldn't say that I hated her, but I didn't like her either.

"Outside." I sign.

"Well come here first, there's something I want to show you." She grabbed my hand before I could react and lead me down the hall and into a room. It was my step-father's office. She walked over to a vase. It wasn't that much bigger than me. It had a painting of a people done in yellow paint against a field of green.

"My daddy got this vase from the Allfather himself as a gift. It shows the Light Elves. Isn't it pretty?"

I nod not fully understanding why she was showing me this.

"My daddy really loves this vase." She says looking at it. Then before I can do anything, she pushes it over causing it to fall and break into pieces.

I stand horrified at the mess. Why would she do that? Sigyn runs to the door and begins screaming for her father.

"What Sigyn? What's wrong?" He sees the broken vase laying at my feet. He walks over to me and grabs my shoulder shaking it. "WHAT DID YOU DO?" He shouts at me.

"I tried to stop her daddy, she pushed it over and broke it."

I look over at Sigyn in disbelief. She just out right lied about me.

"Why did you do that? That was a very important gift!" My step-father yells.

I shake my head and try to sign that it wasn't me that did it. But he doesn't "listen".

"You are nothing but a nuisance." He says as he picks me up, pulling me over his knee and spanking me. Silent tears fall down my cheeks at my punishment. When he is done he orders me to room where I am to stay the rest of the day. I run to my room and cry. My mother enters my room a little bit later and yells at me before slapping my cheek. I held a hand to my cheek as my mother stormed out of my room.

You life in Asgard will not be easy

The Voice's words rang in my head. I lower my hand and walk over to the window in my room. Looking out I can see the palace. I take a shaky breath. Fine! I'll endure. I'm not here for them anyway. I'm here for Loki. Everything I do is to save Loki from a life of pain and loneliness.

From then on, Sigyn made it her goal in life to make me suffer. Every broken window or broken anything, any lost thing was blamed on me. I suffered the bruises and cuts while she looked on laughing. The only one who seemed to like me was my little brother, Sigurd. I was curled up on the floor of my room having just been punished for another thing Sigyn had done when he came in. He toddled over to me and hugged me before walking back out. It made me smile.
