I try not to throw the human from my back. My body is compelled to by my true nature. I stomp my leg impatiently. Her and the boy exchange words. Friendly by her tone which means I don't have to release any flames. Her hands brushes against my withers. Sending a shiver down my spine. The boy is familiar. In an eerie way. I remember his vivid scent well. He rides a Fire mare. She's not of my herd. We exchange words. Her name is Zashala but the humans insist in calling her Thiz. She tells me this is her name and my name is now Pyro.
I wish the humans we'rent as unintelligent to understand our tongue. My name and is not Pyro. Nor will it ever be.
My name is Phen, (Fee-n).
Zashala insists for me to call her Thiz. She stays calm and collected with the human perched.
I am bored and impatient still.
I stamp my foot again, growing restless. I have been mounted and ridden. But never participated in what Za-Thiz calls 'the games'.
I sense taut nerves in my rider. A gallop made her heart race but nothing more. My ears involuntarily flick back in annoyance. Even with the other riders and humans before we would never stand around like this. But maybe that is what made me restless.
With a small click and a touch with her heels we walk to the other side of the arena. It is closed from the light of the sky. Almost like the trees where my herd lays, but without the looming serenity. The male instructs her. My rider's feet fumble as she tries to copy what the male examples. I take no advantage of this. I must protect this human. I let her bound me and bring me here. I'm all in now, with no intention to screw it up. Thiz tells me what to do when she pulls on the straps around my face.
"Listen to the human. It will tell you where to go"
In puzzled and swivel my ears intently. The human speaks no words. I turn in tight circles and trot when im told. Sure, there might be some accidental bucks but nothing unexpected. I want to be a good horse.
I have trust in Scope's words, my herd leader. He was once, in what they call the games. He promises Water, Earth and more importantly, Air horses to come to our island. Thiz conforms this. She also tells me of the training that will begin tomorrow. My stomach twists. There will be Fire horses from other herds, my rivals. In the end it shall all be worth it, seeing my beloved Jewels again.
Oh how I hope I haven't made a mistake coming here.
