His dark hair is messy, giving him a disheveled look. He scratches the back of his neck. Pale skin sticking out like a sore thumb from the basking light of the moon.
For twins. We sure look nothing alike.
He's shirtless, only wearing black sweatpants. I remain still from where I sit, on one of the island chairs in the middle of the kitchen. Sipping milk. Sue me, I act like a child. I force a giggle down. His eyes are droopy and I'm engulfed in the shadow of the cupboard.
"Ahhhhhh!" I screech.
"Ooohhhaaaaaiii!" He yelps, jumping two feet off the ground. He has a sour look on his face when he realizes what's happening. I burst into hysterics. I land hard onto the tiled kitchen floor.
Yes-i did just fall off my chair.
"Your so freaking immature" He grumbles, opening the fridge.
"Not my fault your a little wimp who scares easy" I force air into my lungs.
"Little wimp huh?"
All goes silent as he lunges for me. I jump onto the island. He gives me a playful scowl. Like hes a predator and I'm the prey. I squeal in fear and leap through the kitchen and onto the dining room table. Jason attempts to follow but he was never good at parkour. He makes another lunge and grabs my waist. His hands are cold on my skin.
"Jason!!!" I whine. He throws me onto the couch.
"Jason! Don't you dare!" My voice cracks. He dives his fingers into my side. I burst out laughing. I was always the ticklish one and he was the one who was good at tickling.
"Stttoppppppp!" I moan. He chuckles and releases me from his death grip. I kick him with my foot.
"What are you doing awake?" He finally asks.
"Couldn't sleep. To excited" The happiness leaks into my voice.
"Oh yeah, you have that training thing tomorrow"
"Its the start of a two months of vigorous training" I grumble in annoyance.
"Hey why are you up" I ask, prodding his bare chest with my toe.
He shrugs his shoulders.
"Dude" I warn.
He looks me sincerely in the eye.
"Nightmares are back" He mumbles. I sigh and flop down closer to him. I put my arms around him in a wide bear hug. I feel tears flowing from his eyes.
We both used to get nightmares. We both saw it happen. But Jason covered my eyes. All I saw was dad and the Fire horse and then a minute later we were covered in blood and they were both gone.
We had loved dad.
He was are everything.
Mom was always the strict one, who was sincere with us.
Dad was the complete opposite. I have no idea how they fell in love.
Jason sobs quietly. I cup his face in my hands.
"Shhhhhhh" I whisper.
"We'll be alright"
The worry in his eyes never faded. But I guess it was always my job to keep him from going dark.
