Chapter 3: Loud and Quiet Ones

The small stout Amanda held her broom tight between her legs, making little jumps as she awaited an answer to her demand. Diana gave an apprehensive look before grabbing her broom, turning away from Amanda with a returned elegance. "I have had enough challenges for today, now I have more use in honing my overall skills."

The denial made Amanda look confused, eventually, a look of anger came on her face. "What?! Are you serious?! Don't you want to prove which one of us is the best?...which is obviously me! But hey, I like a challenge!" Boasted Amanda, earning a raised eyebrow from you as you wondered how far the small version of your rebel friend's ego went.

You did not notice Diana staring at you, a small smile forming on her lips before disappearing as she looked back at Amanda. "I do not need to prove anything, while I desire the continued improvement of myself I will not forsake any regulation in the process." A proud smile appeared on your face as Diana recalled your lesson in her own cute posh little way.

Diana without waiting proceeded to walk away from your little corner amidst Amanda's second confusion at her big words. "You know what I think? You're just too much of a chicken!" Amanda shouted at Diana, who just ignored her as she joined Hannah and Barbara, both glad to see their friend return and help with their decent attempts to float with their brooms.

Amanda glared as she tried to chase after Diana, making chicken noises until you made her stop by standing in her path. "Hey! What's the big idea dummy?"
"Don't you think you should pick on someone your own size?" You said with a smirk on your face, the irony and implication of Amanda likely being the smallest in the room quickly running to her head and making them glare.

"Shut up punk! I can take on anyone!" She yelled as you quickly started to regret your snide comment, your fiery former friend using her broom to hit you constantly. "Hey- Hey hey! Calm down- Jeez!" You dryly pleaded while using your arms to defend yourself against the light hits.

Amanda smiled triumphantly as she stopped her assault, letting her broom rest on her shoulders behind her head. "Told you I could take you on, now let me challenge the Brussel sprout!"
"No." Amanda stood frozen in place at your refusal, her childish anger returning as she reignited her broom attacks.

"Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! I defeated you fair and square and I'll beat you again and again until you're dead!" She shouted as you let out a sigh, taking on a more gentle tone. "L-Look I know you want to challenge Diana but she has already said no, you can't force other kids to do what only you want." Amanda stopped attacking but still held her broom menacingly.

"That's dumb!" She said, looking ready to continue her attack when an idea popped into your head. "I'm guessing you are bored? Broom riding not doing it for you?" You questioned with a sickly sweet tone, placing your hands together as Amanda shrugged, a boastful smirk on her face. "The lessons are too easy, I've done this stuff countless times before and it never changes."

You smirked as you revealed your ace in the hole. "And you aren't interested in doing any tricks with them then?" Amanda perked up, curiosity shining through her eyes as she stopped raising her broom. "Tricks?" She asked. "Yes tricks, broom tricks! Cool moves to amaze everyone around here without having to challenge them and show them how you're the best!" You bellowed out, everything going according to plan as Amanda's face changed to show her deep in thought.

"You're right! I'm gonna do that right now!" She blurted as she ran off, leaving you to let out a sigh of relief at a menace being taken care of...for now, knowing Amanda.

Overlooking the room everything seemed to go better than before, a little Hannah and Barbara praising their blushing friend and idol, Sucy floating up really high and around the windows but not really concerning you knowing Sucy was going to be Sucy while the rest of the kids listened diligently to a tired-looking Professor Nelson-even Akko was listening! Albeit jumping excitingly on her broom in the process.
