Soraya
Manaus, Brazil
"Again!" Sal orders me, so I prepare for another round even though I'm exhausted. I need this, I need the pain to ground me.
"Fine, but try not to go for the face this time. It would be a shame to ruin such a pretty thing." And that's earned me an eyeroll.
"Don't roll your eyes at me. If I'm pretty you're pretty, since we kind of look alike. I've just complimented you inderectly."
"You act like you're 10."
"But I am. 10 times better than you." I tease and he chuckles.
"You've just proved my point."
We circle each other like the predators we are, looking for weakness, for a spot to strike. By now, my fighting strategies have become predictable to him, but so did his to me. That means we always need to come up with something new.
We go at each other trying to keep our own until we're both covered in sweat. Finally an oprtunity to end the fight appears when Sal lounges for me so I quikly get down on my back to avoid him. Grabbing his arm I pull him to the ground with me. He goes for my right leg, offering me the oportunity to bring it across his chest. Still holding his arm I bring my other leg around his head and lock him into an arm bar. He has no choice but to submit. I win.
I release him and he gets to his feet, offering me a hand to help me up as well. "That was impressive, baby sister."
"Were you expecting anything less from me?" I ask looking into his chocolate eyes, an exact immage of my own.
"No. I've learned not to underestimate you."
"On a serious note, I know you let me win to lift my morale. I apreciate it, but just know that I'm fully capable of kicking your ass all by myself."
"Mhm." He teases, but suddenly his gaze loses the playful look. "The dinner is at 6. Are you sure you still want to do this."
"The plan has already been set into motion, Sal. I'm this close of bringing Navarro down." I say, bringing my thumb and my forefinger together to show him the space between them. "If I go back now when all I have to do to get what we want is put on a nice show, I would have failed not only myself, but you and all of our people as well. All the pain would have been in vain if I don't get trough the end with our little ruse."
The mountain of a man pulls me into a bear hug. "Just be careful, Soraya. I don't want to lose you. Not when I just got you back."
"I pinky promise to be. All I have to do is play the starry- eyed finacée up until I get down the aisle and I say 'I do' ."

2 moths ago, The Bahamas, immediately after the explosion.
My ears are ringing from the blast that has throw my body into the air like a rag. I've landed on the hard ground severel feet away from the burning inferno. My lungs sting from the heat and smoke.
Everything hurts.
Digging my nails into the ground, I try to crawl away to escape the flames. Exhaustion weights me down but I can't allow myself to succumb to it.
A heavy hand grabs me by my neck and forces me fo my feet. Apparently Kim Chen is harder to get rid of that a plague. He even seems less ruffled up by the events than me, and if that doesn't prove that life's unfair I don't know what does. "Now how will we do this? I could torture you to death, tape it and send it to him. But you've tried to trick me, you went against your own word. That's unacceptable."
