Soraya

I wouldn't have called my life boring by any means, but now it has kind of turned into a soap opera. Not only did I find out that my origins were a lie, but I am also severely injured and trapped in a mansion amongst enemies. With some of them I share strands of DNA.

Apparently my sperm donor isn't very liked by his people. No surprise there, since he's basically leading them like a dictator incapable of human emotion. However, ever since Oscar's raised in power, he's managed to prove himself as a valuable asset to his Cartel. His scheming brought in a lot of new territories and doubled the incomes. If you take that and the fact that their loyalty to their Lord is blind into consideration, it makes sense why they haven't tried to take him down.

As for Salvador, he seems to be the perfect heir, following in his old man's steps. He says it's only for show, a mask he wears to have his old's man complete trust. Because if Oscar doesn't doubt his intentions, he can stab him in the back easily when the time is right. And I am going to help.

I've contemplated trying to escape, but my injuries won't allow it. The best option at hand is working towards destroying them from the inside. I wish I could let my family know I'm alive. But if they find out I'm a prisoner of sorts, they'll come for me. I don't want them to waste the lives of our soldiers or foolishly fall into a trap when I'll be no doubt used as bate. More than anything, I wish I knew Teo's condition. He'd better have made it or I'm going to kill him myself then follow him in the afterworld and be an eternal pain in his ass.

It's almost midnight when the door to the room I was put in flies open. A chubby man with a dark mustache, dressed in a fine suit enters the room. It's Oscar. Salvador follows him.

"Hello." I great, takining them in with apparent confusion.

The plan Salvador and I came with is to pretend I've lost my memory. The doctor told the older Cortez that I don't remember anything about my identity besides my name and that I'll probably never recall my past since my brain was damaged when the the blast caused by the explosion made me hit my head hard. I'm putty in hands hands, waiting to be shaped in a weapon of his choosing.

"Hello Soraya." Oscar greets. "How are you feeling?" The glint in his murky eyes tells me that he's up to no good. He's probably going to test me, to try finding a fault in my act.

"Uhm, I gusess pretty good given my condition, sir."

"Do you know who I am?" He comes closer to my bed.

"No." I gulp, trying to seem intimidated by him.

He brings a hand up to caress my cheek and a wave of revulsinon hits me.

"What do you remember?"

"I know that my name is Soraya. There was an accident. Salvador saved me from dying and brought me here." His face hoovers above me as his hand comes closer to my neck. My self preservation instincts activate my wish to remove it.

"What's you're plan, little Bird?"

"Plan?"

"Don't act all innocent. You think you can fool me?" He suddenly snaps, as his hand begins to squeeze.

"I'm afraid I don't understand." I make my lower lip tremble.

In response he cuts off my air supply. Normally my traying allows me to shove panic away in situations like these one, but now I let it seep trough because it will helo my case. I bring my hands to his wrists, desperately trying to claw them off while embarrasing choking sounds come out of me. He joins his other hand to my throat, squeezing tighter. I trash in the bed, my, tears streaming down my cheeks. The madness in his eyes makes me fear that this is my last moment on this Earth. My vision blurs and my ears are ringing. I can faintly hear Salvador yelling at him to stop. Then he's suddenly ripped away from me.
