"Jackson!" The teacher calls my last name. I flinch and look up from my phone. "Since you're on your phone it tells me that you already understand the material, yes?"

Her British accent made her sound more angry than she actually was.

I look around the class to see everyone staring at me, including her.

I don't know her name yet, especially since she just came to the school this year. So I've just been calling her her or she lately.

She was an asian girl with long wavy black hair and cute dimples.

I try not to look at her, especially in an embarrassing moment like this. But I can definitely feel her gaze. As if her gaze was, heavier, than everyone else's.

"Jackson, if I see you on your phone again It's mine." She sighs and continues the lesson, to which I still don't pay attention to. All I can think about is her.

I quickly look at her again. She's sitting at the front of the class while I sit all the way in the back. She's wearing a black beanie today, a black graphic tee and a pair of ripped light blue mom jeans. Lowkey fire.

I look at her hands which is holding a cyan blue mechanical pencil. She's writing something. Why is she writing?

I look around and see everyone else is writing too. Shit. We're supposed to be writing?

I was never good at English. The subject I was kind of good at was math, occasionally, when I do pay attention.

Soon, the bell rings and every student is rushing out the class. But not her. She stays, and packs her things into her backpack patiently, as if she doesn't have another class to go to.

Someone goes up to her. Another girl in the class named Eve.

I don't talk to Eve either. The most we've ever interacted was following each other on Instagram and the one time she asked if she could borrow a piece of line paper freshman year.

You guys talk for a bit, she says something, and you let out a slight giggle. The cutest giggle I've ever heard in my entire life.

Suddenly, Eve looks up and I quickly look away. Fuck that was obvious. I store the last of my things in my backpack and speed walk my way out of there.
