The sound of what sounded like stilettos echoed the quiet council meeting where everybody was either looking down or staring in front of them.

"Everyone! Sorry, I'm late." Her soft voice entered everyone's ears and almost in an instant, their faces became relieved and appeased.

She strides in confidently with her manager and her team follows closely behind her.

"No, it's okay, Yumi. We're so glad you even agreed on this collaboration." The director replied to her and signaled all people present to stand up while he shook hands with the two.

"Now, why don't we start the meeting?" Everyone began to talk about the project. All the faces were enthusiastic and were already expecting positive feedback for the two.

Everyone, with the exception of the two center of attention, at least. When the girl sat down earlier, her eyes instantly intersected with those green eyes like cats. Those very same ones that made her life crazy during her high school years.

How many years has it been? Three? Four?

Yumi never really counted the years since they separated since she didn't want to prove to him that he was right.

The girl had always been the 'my way or the highway' kind of person— she was categorical and never liked having someone constantly tell them what to do and not. That she wants to learn from her mistakes, whether it kills her or not. It was more a matter of pride than personality, now that you think about it.

Her ex-boyfriend's opinion however, was the exact opposite. He felt that if he could do something for them, he would. Why put them through torture if he knew what would happen?

Maybe this was why they could never be in a world full of promises and forever. They were only destined to meet and not destined to be.

Both didn't hear each other out during their biggest fight and turned each other's backs when they needed each other the most.

Just as both almost regretted having to agree to this project.

"Why can't he just stay thousands of kilometers away from me."

"I wish I could leave, just for the sake of my heart not to fall apart again."

Lev looked away cursing himself that he, himself, felt eruptions within that span of a nanosecond of having their eyes meet, and he could almost see all the memories they shared.

Shrugging the thought of her once again, he decided to lower his head to fiddle his hands like he always do. Being bored of it, he picked up a pen and started scribbling in the piece of paper that the staff brought him.

Immersed in trying to distract himself from the thoughts of her, he did not notice his manager shaking his shoulder— garnering his attention.  He could see him silently tilting his head as if trying to point the director.

That's when he noticed that the room was dead silent and felt everyone's stare. Icluding his ex-girlfriend.

"Oh uh-" He glanced at his manager for some help because he had zero knowledge of what's happening. "As I was asking, Mr. Haiba. What do you think about the project?"

"Oh! I honestly think it'd give me good advertisements since I'm about to be involved with the top ." He bowed slightly after he said his last words and fortunately the meeting went on.

"Yes, it'd be highly recommended we'd better start the shooting next week." The director started to gather his papers in his area and stack them nearly before giving them to her assistant.

"Meeting adjourned."

Of course, his and her team first greeted each other while the two were still in their respective chairs. Lev glanced at the girl and saw Yumi scrolling through her phone while occasionally typing from time to time.
