The thing is with disasters, is that your day can start off perfectly, and yet end horribly. There's no forewarn, no nothing.

She had had her fair share of disasters. Which is why she hated it when she herself brought disasters to others.

Looking down at the floor, she found herself staring at the bodies that laid there, all of them unmoving. She hadn't wanted to kill them, but how could she disobey a direct order from him? Sacrifices had to be made, as much as she disliked it.

She stepped back outside, hoping to get rid of the stench of blood in the air before she was tempted to feast on them, when she froze. There was another sound she could just about make out. A heartbeat. Faint, but still there.

One of them was still alive.

The girl was still alive. She couldn't be more than what, 12? 13? She was sprawled on the ground, her body covering the corpse of what seemed to be her youngest brother.

Could she really walk away and leave the girl to die? Though she had killed countless others before, something about this girl made her pause. She knew that if she left her there, she would eventually die of blood loss. The nearest village was miles away from here, so she would die anyway. Unless..

No, she wouldn't condemn another poor soul to the doomed life of a demon. She couldn't take someone's humanity away from them.

And yet as she stared at the near dead girl, she found her body seemingly moving on it's own. Before she knew it, she had cut her wrist with her sharp nail and dripped a few drops of blood into the girl's wounds. Quickly healing the cut, she stood up and took a few steps back, before she realized what she had just done.

She had turned a human.. into a demon.. She had done the one thing she despised him for doing to her. She was no better than him at this point.

Panicked, she turned and ran away. She had no idea where she was, or where she was going. All she knew was that she had to get away from there.

There was always the chance she wouldn't survive, some human bodies were weak, and couldn't take the pain of transformation, and died before it was complete. She used the thought to comfort herself as she bolted away, like the coward she was.

But deep down inside, she knew that the girl had a high likelihood to survive. If she was strong enough to survive a demon attack, she would be strong enough to take the power.

And the worst part was, that deep down inside, she didn't regret her action.

*****

The lifestyle of a demon was a solitary one. You couldn't engage in any type of human hobby, let alone converse with one. You were limited to exploring during the night, and had to kill and eat a certain amount of humans to stay strong. Demons also didn't interact with each other much, it was forbidden after all.

Of course, some didn't mind. Food and power? It killed two birds with one stone, and they were content with that lifestyle.

But no matter how hard she tried, she always felt.. lonely. She had no one to talk to. Not one friend. She often wondered how bad it could've been, the day she lost her first battle.

Why wasn't she slaughtered after the fight? She didn't know.

After all, it wasn't every day one lost a fight with Kibutsuji Muzan and lived to tell the tale.

A/N: Hey guys, I think I did pretty badly in this chapter, as well as such a short word count, but I promise the next one will be better. Until next time~
