As the group of misfits go into the portal they are very excited to see the new universe laid down before them.
While falling through the portal, Chris remarks something.
"Hey Ren...?" Chris asks nervously.
"Yeah? What is it?" Ren replies.
"Did you pack those modified umbrellas to break our fall?" Chris asks with an anxious look on his face.
"...Shit." Ren starts brainstorming fast, thinking of a solution
"Oliver! Use that jetpack thing I tested on you a couple of days ago!" Ren shouts.
"Noted!" Oliver replies confidently.
Oliver attempts to scoop everyone up with the experimental jetpack, but the jetpack fails on him and he ends up
dragging everyone down faster.
Everyone screams in fear as they hit the ground of the alternate universe
"Ow... Are you guys okay...?" Ren asks the rest of the group.
Oliver says "Nailed... It..." as he makes a powering down noise.
"Oliver broke our fall, but you probably need to do some rewiring, Ren." Harlow says with a mocking look on his face.
Right as Harlow says that, another group comes out from around the corner of where everyone landed.
"Who are you guys?!" The brown-haired teen says while pointing something at Ren.
"Chris please calm down! It's most likely just some strangers walking past-" an Anthropomorphic white wolf says.
"Guys, who are you staring at? Let's just go inside it's hot as hell out here!" An anthro Lizard with advanced-looking glasses mumbles.
"Oliver, please be patient, maybe these people need help from us?" A Robot behind the other group proclaims.
"Umm... Hi?" Ren says to the other group.
"You guys seem... Familiar?" Chris awkwardly tells them.
"S-so what's your name you... Fox?" the brown-haired teen asks Chris.
"Oh! My name is C-Chris... It's nice to meet you." Chris answers politely.
The brown-haired guy backs away in confusion "Hold on... White-haired guy with one eye! State your name!"
"Ren." Ren answers in a monotone voice.
"Ah, I see what's going on here." The Anthro white wolf says.
"Chris, these guys are just us from another dimension, they just went here with their shifter." He explains to the brown-haired guy.
"Huh, neat" the Lizard says.
The 2 groups of shifters have a lengthy and intriguing conversation as they all head inside.
"So, as I was saying, you guys are actually the first AU group of ourselves that stumbled into our dimension." Swapped Ren explains.
"I see, so you guys are basically just us if some of our roles were switched around if I'm getting this right?" Chris asks.
"That is correct, Chris" Swapped Chris confirms to his other-self.
As they all chat for a while, the sun starts to settle, when the normal Shifters want to leave, the Swapped ones tell them that they can eat dinner with them, They agree as Oliver and Swapped Harlow go to the kitchen to prepare a fancy dinner.
"Wait, so goddamn MOON tried annoying you guys yesterday?! She's like the sweetest person in the whole school! It's that damn brother of hers that annoys the shit out of us! Goddamn Sun..." Swapped Oliver asserts.
"Just as I expected, they're swapped too. Sun is genuinely one of the friendliest students in our Universe." Ren explains to Swapped Oliver.
"He's such a cinnamon roll."
"She's such a cinnamon roll."
Swapped Ren and Chris say at the same time.
After finishing dinner, the original Shifters promise the Swapped ones to return in a week or two.
They open a portal and return to their Universe.
After that, they all go to bed.
—2 A.M—
While trying to sleep, Chris gets woken up by silent sobbing in Ren's room. He decides to investigate.
When he enters the room, he finds Ren sitting in the corner, with his eye bandage off his face. As he gets closer, he notices cuts on his arms that are pouring blood out of them.
"Ren!" Chris shouts desperately.
Ren lunges at Chris, keeping a pair of scissors aimed at his throat.
Chris holds Ren's hands in his paws. "Ren, everything will be fine, you don't have to think about THEM anymore, they're gone now..."
Ren realizes what he has done and immediately starts putting bandages on his arms and puts a new eye bandage on his face.
"I'm... sorry, goodnight Chris..." Ren says as he weeps away his tears.
Chris leaves for a moment and then comes back with a sleeping bag.
"There's no way I'm leaving you here alone after something like that." Chris smiles at Ren.
"Thanks, Chris..." Ren says as goes to hug Chris.
Ren falls asleep as Chris watches over him for around half an hour before going to bed himself.
