Chapter 4: Future

--11 A.M, Inside the lab.--

As Ren works on Oliver for a little bit, Harlow runs into the lab, telling Ren he found intel on a new universe on the Shifter.

"Wait, are you kidding me?!" Ren asks.
"Nah, I deadass found one." Harlow says with full confidence.
"Let me go get Chris, and Akira too, it'll be nice to have someone else come with us. Can you boot up Oliver real quick and tell him about this?" Ren asks.

Before Harlow can answer, Ren is already upstairs getting Chris and Akira.
Before they all depart, they eat lunch and talk about some school things first.

"Ugh, you know our science teacher? Mr. Whatshisface? He gives us mountains of homework!" Akira grumbles.
"You still didn't know Mr. Jefferson's name? We've told you like 8 times already...." Chris says.
"Yeah, and also he doesn't give us mountains of homework, you're honestly just slacking on schoolwork, Akira." Ren says in a smug tone.
"Yeah-Yeah whatever. Anyway, when are we gonna go to that new universe that Harlow found?! Everyone has finished lunch and I physically can't wait anymore!" Akira begs.
"Alright then let's just go now." Ren says confidently.

Ren grabs the special umbrellas to break the fall for everyone and opens up the portal.
As everyone goes down the portal, they land into an alleyway of a city.
Everyone has a graceful landing, except for Oliver, who fell into an a-little-too-futuristic dumpster

--11 P.M, ???, An alternate universe.

"Talk about a minor inconvenience..." Oliver says.
"Hey at least it was a soft landing." Harlow mocks Oliver.
"Not really, there was a bunch of glass in there and with the new touch sensors Ren installed on me, it kinda hurts." Oliver asserts.
"Well never mind this dumpster fiasco, let's check out this universe and see what's going on in here." Ren says.
"I'm really curious myself!" Akira tells Ren.

As they step out of the alleyway, the group finds a very futuristic city.
"So this is a future-type world huh? Neat." Harlow says
"The buildings look beautiful!" Chris says with excitement.

As everyone is bewildered by the futuristic city that doesn't look anything like their own, Ren feels something on the back of his head.
"A singular move and you'll be exterminated." a voice that kinda sounds like Ren says in a threatening tone.
"Ren... We've talked about this, at least scan them first." a voice that sounds like Oliver says.
"My bad." The Ren-like voice says in response.
As the regular looks at the person behind Ren, they see... Ren again?
"And there's our guy." Oliver says.
"Seeing two of the same people is normal to you guys?!" Akira whispers to Chris.
"Somehow it is, then again you are literally friends with an anthropomorphic fox." Chris responds.
"Fair point." Akira responds back to him.

After Ren gets 'scanned' by the other Ren behind him, the other Ren looks confused.
"Oliver, is my visor malfunctioning?" The other Ren asks.
"Why? Something wrong?" The other Oliver asks.
"It's showing my own data when I scan him, but it's really glitchy....." The other Ren says.
"....You guys are idiots. You two LITERALLY missed the entire reason these 5 are here." A third person behind The other Ren and the other Oliver says.
After taking a closer look, Harlow was able to see that the third person is another Chris.
"They came here with their shifter you morons, can you guys use your brains for once?!" The other Chris shouts.

After everyone gets some stuff sorted out, the Future group starts talking to the original group
"So, Future me, what happened to your eyes?" Ren asks his future self.
"You wanna know?" Future Ren asks.
Ren eagerly nods.
"Alright, so one day i was inside of the lab, but the experiment i was doing went wrong and i slowly started losing vision. After i realized my vision was getting blurrier and darker, i got to work on a visor to basically give people new eyes, i finished the blueprint but was only able to make a small bit of progress before going completely blind, luckily Oliver and Chris finished it for me, while Harlow was playing board games with me to keep me sane, and yes, he did cheat." Future Ren explains.
"Classic Harlow i guess." Ren chuckles.
"But wow, that's actually really cool, so what abilities does your visor have?" Ren eagerly asks.
"Thermal vision, Person scanner, alot of stuff." Future Ren explains.

A little bit next to the two Ren's there were the two Chris' talking.
"So do you play an instrument, Future me?" Chris asks.
"Yeah! i play a guitar." Future Chris says.
"That's so cool!! i play a violin!" Chris says in response.
"A violin? those things are still relevant in your guys' universe? i've never seen one but Ren told me the last one he saw was when he was 5." Future Chris says.
"Anyway, wanna see something cool?" Future Chris asks his other self.
"Sure?" Chris accept nervously.
Then, Future Chris reveals a full prostethic arm with a laser gun attached to it.
"W-WOAH!! is that even safe???" Chris asks while very shocked by just the sight of it.
"Eh, depends what situation you're in." Future Chris responds
Chris just sits there in shock.

Then, the future version of Harlow walks into the room.
"Whats going on here, visitors or hostages?" He asks.
"Goddamnit Harlow stop thinking that we kidnapped people!" Future Oliver says.
"Whoops, my bad. just by looking at everyone it seems like these are our alternate universe selves?" Future Harlow asks.
"Yep, and im you from that other universe." Harlow says.
"Damn, alright then guess my alternate universe self is a shorty." Future Harlow mocks his other self.
"NAHHHHH, it's not that I'm short, it's just that you're fuckin tall as hell!!" Harlow argues.

After everyone was done getting to know each other, there was still one more person who hadn't met their future self.
Akira. After she asks about where her future self is by Future Ren, he tells her that she's doing something he can't tell anyone about and that she and the rest should just come back later, She obliges and asks Ren if they can all go home.
After going back to the main Reality, Akira goes home and the group all goes to bed.

--12 A.M, The Shifters Home--
During the night, everyone is asleep, but what nobody knows is that there was a certain someone inside the home with them, that someone was Moon. She went down the lab to take pictures of blueprints of the Shifter and blueprints on how Chris and Harlow we're made, After she does that, she get's out of the house. Nobody noticed that she was even there.
