A bit late sorry. Enjoy...

The meal began as it normally did, with Karen bringing the food and placing it in the center of the table and Delilah serving both of their portions.
Karen paused as she was about to take a mouthful, “I almost forgot to ask, why are you home from work so early?”
Delilah sighed, “Guess it was too much to hope that I’d get to eat before the interrogation.”
Karen raised an eyebrow, “Of course it was.”
Delilah laughed and shrugged, “I don’t want you choking on your food so I promise to explain after we eat, and you know I keep my promises.”
Karen was intrigued but seeing that Delilah was determined not to discuss it until after they had eaten, she dropped the topic and they moved on to normal topics such as Karen's work as a reporter for one of the best news companies in New York. She was due to travel to Paris in a few days for an important assignment and she had asked Delilah to take some time off and come with her and Delilah had promised to give it some thought.
After the meal, the pair moved to the living room with their mint chocolate chip ice cream. Karen turned to her and said, “Stop stalling and spill. Did you finally tap that boss of yours?”
Delilah explained what had happened at the office and Karen just stared into space for a while. Thinking over the information. “Do it.” She finally said softly.
“What?” Delilah asked in shock.
“I said do it. Take it from someone who was cheated on by her husband at least 35 times, well that I know of. Do it. It’s a straightforward deal and he is a standup guy otherwise he wouldn’t have your respect. It will save you the heartache of watching those innocent employees suffer, something I know you couldn’t and wouldn’t stand for any way, so to shorten the amount of time that you’ll spend agonizing over it, I’ll make it easier for you, just do it. Something tells me that that Shawn may be capable of following through with this threat, otherwise Joss wouldn’t have told you, he would have just told him to shove off.”
Delilah paused then said, “I’ll sleep on it. Anyway, speaking of that demon I told you not to marry, how is the divorce going?”
Karen leaned back against the back of the chair and replied, “Dead.”
Delilah gasped and shouted, “You’re kidding me right?! He’s not worth…”
“Prison time I know, I know.” Karen laughed, “Chill, I’m just kidding, like I’d give up any more of my life to that creep. He collected the last of his things a few minutes ago if all is on the right schedule.”
“You left him alone in your house? Aren’t you afraid to go back and see that he left and took the house with him, foundation and all?”
Karen laughed, “I left a body guard there; now that I’m divorcing what he likes to call “the gutter vulture”, daddy is talking to me again and giving me his full protection, all I have to do is put up with the ‘I told you so s'’ until the divorce is final. The sooner, the better.” She sighed.
Karen’s father was a multimillionaire, his best friend being Delilah’s father a Spanish tycoon. The two women had grown up together, bilingual and a bond formed from having to deal with absentee fathers and self-centered mothers who were more concerned with providing for multiple charities than the children they gave birth to.
The two talked for most of the day, watched movies together and spent the day bonding as they used to when their parents left again for some other event that they had deemed more important than their children.
They watched some of their favorite movies from their childhood and laughed at the jokes they had seen a million times, for the memories attached to them were bittersweet; more sweet than bitter.
They fell asleep in the sofa after dinner, content that the one person who always had their back still did despite how their world had changed and how it was to do so again.
