Walking to class, Akaashi realises he doesn’t exactly know how to do this. How is he supposed to prevent Bokuto from dying, again? And how is Kageyama his best friend in this world? Two introverts...being best friends...doesn’t exactly sound very realistic to him.
He turns to Kageyama, and stares, looking for any differences. Maybe a different eye colour? Maybe a different face shape- or something. But nope, it’s still the same Kageyama he knows. An awkward grimace, flat hair, but an overall pretty face.
“Hey, what’s up? You’re looking like you just ate one of Bokuto’s expired strawberry pocky. No idea why he has them anyway, does he not know they’re expired? …
...Seriously though, is anything wrong?” Kageyama jokes, swatting a hand at him, but also concerned.
Akaashi stops in his tracks, halting.
“How- How do you know that.” He stammers out.
“Know...what?” Kageyama looks at him incredulously.
“That Bokuto has strawberry pocky all the time...how do you know that?” Akaashi is frantic. Could Bokuto have been hospitalized with something before and Kageyama took his place?
“He brought them...to prank the team? It happened just last week, I think. It turns out it wasn’t even on purpose. He just has those boxes in his bag. Deadweight. You…you were there. I was there. The whole team…was there.” Kageyama pauses, as if he doesn’t know what to say. He’s fixating on Akaashi with the strangest look anyone has ever given him.
Akaashi doesn’t know what to say either.
“You either have the worst memory, the worst sense of humour, or are just another person in another life. Get well soon man.” Kageyama jokes, throwing his bag over his shoulder and heading to his classroom.
“Anyway, here’s my stop, 1-02. In case you’ve forgotten which I sure hope you didn’t? Because that would be awkward..” Kageyama points down the hallway to one of the classrooms. Akaashi follows his direction.
“Your classroom is 3-06. See you at lunch, yeah?” Kageyama shrugs, then heads into his classroom. Akaashi nods, silently thanking him before navigating his way to 3-06.
