Lunch and other classes went by like a blur: and Akaashi still had nothing. There was no way to predict death, or prevent it. But...even if Bokuto was diagnosed with the same sickness, Akaashi didn’t know what to do. I mean he couldn’t just walk up to Bokuto and tell him he was going to die- It would brand him as a pyschopath.

Akaashi.

He couldn’t save Bokuto’s life, but he would save him. He would accompany him anywhere and everywhere, sit through storms and panic attacks with him, and tell him it was going to be okay. Wait no- he had to save Bokuto, but how? It’s not like telling Bokuto he loved him would save everything like in those stupid romcoms.
“Oh Juliet! I loved you!” Tim would say, bringing Juliet back to life and even letting a bag of money drop from the sky! Akaashi thought, recollecting one of those romcoms he had watched. Or was that considered as fantasy and adventure?

Akaashi? Akaashi!

Whatever, even if he had to put himself through the same pain of Bokuto...dying. Akaashi would NOT leave him. Never. Ever.

“AKAASHI!!”

A shout drew him out from his thoughts. Whipping his head to Oikawa, he realised with a jolt that he had been unintentionally ignoring Oikawa for the past few minutes.

“I’m sorry. I was...thinking about something. I didn’t mean to-”

Oikawa tossed a wrapped packet of onigiri to Akaashi. Akaashi caught it, raising a questioning eyebrow at him. Oikawa shrugged, “No worries man! It’s all good. Also, take this onigiri, I brought extra and you look like you need food, you honestly look like shit.”

Akaashi nodded, thanking him. He’d forgotten to bring food.

Oikawa perked up. “Oh! I forgot, would you like to join us to eat before practice starts? Tobio and Bokuto will b-”

“YES.” Akaashi shouted. Other students passing by them turned to look at Akaashi with disbelief, but then instantly turned back to whatever they were doing.
“Okaaaay, eager to see one of them huh? Who is it, Bokuto or Tobio? Or both?” Oikawa smirked and wriggled his eyebrows playfully. Akaashi rolled his eyes.

“Bokuto…” Akaashi answered in his mind.
