Guardian stopped down to sniff the roots of a tree, his grey tail swishing, all senses alert. Not just for prey though. Clan cats, especially from WindClan, the clan he had been kicked out of. Spitting at the memory, he turned around to search another area for prey.
At the same time, Ripplepelt was heading out of camp with his friend Berrytail, who had a pink tail.
Guardian spotted a sparrow hopping around the undergrowth and pounced. He dug his claws into its body and sank his teeth into it before hurriedly eating it, though it didn't quench his hunger. he unsheathed his claw again and examined it. It was dull. There was no way he could catch himself anything with claws like that. He paddled over to a rock jutting out of the ground and started scraping his claws across it noisily.
Ripplepelt ears pricked up. He had heard something. "Did you hear that?" he asked Berrytail. There it was again a loud scratching sound. "Should we go check it out?" meowed Berrytail, nervously swishing her tail. "Yeah, let's go," replied Ripplepelt. He dropped into a crouch and began to stalk slowly towards the noise.
Guardian pushed off with his haunches and landed in a tree. He quickly climbed up and stared down as he waited for the cats to come. Probably a patrol of two or three, he thought, sniffing the air again.
"Hello?" mewed Ripplepelt, he sniffed. Not a Clan scent, he looked up into the tree. "Duskfur?" he called, surprised.
Guardian shifted uneasily. He knew who that cat was. Ripplepelt. The sound of his old name made his fur bristle. "It's Guardian," he growled, flicking his tail at Ripplepelt. Then he noticed Berrytail. He hated that cat. That was one of the cats who had accused him of murdering three cats with deathberries. It had been Finchpaw. No one had listened to him.
Berrytail narrowed her eyes, "What are you doing on WindClan territory?"
"Why shouldn't I?" Guardian started to climb down. He hopped the last foot and strode towards the two cats.
"It's my Clan isn't it?" he met her gaze steadily, and Berrytail looked away, tail lashing.
"No. You were exiled. And I'm glad you were." she hissed.
"Well, we still don't know exactly how," said Ripplepelt. He had been best friends with Guardian when they were apprentices.
Guardian glared at his friend. It was had to keep his voice calm and steady. "You were my friend! When Finchpaw accused me, you didn't seem surprised. You were scared of me, Ripplepelt." He forced himself not to leap onto the warrior right there, right now.
"I'm not scared of you anymore," Ripplepelt hissed fiercely, "You were a loyal WindClan cat, and I'm surprised some cats believed that mouse-brain. But if you want to hate someone in WindClan, it should be Finchpaw." He turned around to head back.
Berrytail scowled at Guardian, who had a matching scowl on his face, and ran after her friend.
"You're right!" Guardian shouted after him. "I hate that cat! she killed your sister! I would never do that!" He was sure Ripplepelt hadn't heard him. he didn't care. He would get his revenge. Tonight.
Ripplepelt looked back, Guardian had touched a nerve.
Guardian spat. "Duskfur!" he growled in disgust. "Ripplepelt! Berrytail! Finchpaw!" he shook his head angrily.
"Hello there!" Sleeksight called to Guardian.
Guardian looked around. Who said that? "What do you want? Are you a Clan cat?" he demanded, searching the trees for a Clan cat.
Sleeksight laughed out loud. "Really? A Clan cat?" She jumped down from the tree and faced Guardian.
Guardian took a step back as she landed in front of him. "You came from WindClan don't you?" He didn't know why he asked. Maybe she could help him get revenge.
