3rd person POV

Rain fell sharp and aggressively as the caskets were lowered into the ground. Black. Everything was black. The dark clouds in the sky hid the sun, everyone stood around in black clothes, and nothing seemed to be happy. Well, there was one person who stood out. They wore dark red button-up shirt with faded jeans. Her vibrant blond hair was pinned up in a messy bun. She wore dark sunglasses.

The girl next to her was dressed in all black and was weeping profusely.

"Eloise, lighten up. Do you really care that they're dead? I mean, from all the horrible complaints you told me about them, I'd think you should be only a little sad..." Giselle Thermo said, patting the girl's back.

Eloise gave Giselle a nasty glare through her puffy eyes, "They were my grandparents! They did care about me and I-" A fit of sobs interrupted her speech. She tried a couple more times to speak through them, but in the end, gave up.

Giselle shifted uncomfortably and spoke to herself, "They chose to die at the worst possible time."

Eloise cried harder, and the rain continued down. It fell and fell, that's all Eloise wanted to focus on. A wave of raindrops fell, and then more. The cold touch of the rain made her shiver, and she wanted to keep it that way.

Soon the whole crowd of people left and Eloise and Giselle started leaving, too.

They walked up to their cars. The white Subaru belonged to Eloise and the yellow Dodge Charger was Giselle's.

"I hate that this is how we part ways," Giselle spoke, clutching onto her keys and fidgeting with them.

Eloise nodded and tried to speak, "I-I wish you could stay."

"Now, now Eloise, I must continue on my own journey! I've taken up three years of my life teaching you, and I need to teach myself now. You'll be in good hands at Jujutsu High. Principle Masamichi is a great man, and I hear the teachers there are amazing." Giselle pulled Eloise into a warm embrace, "Just promise me one thing."

"What..?" Eloise inquired, her sobs had slowly subsided.

"Do NOT miss your flight."

Eloise softly punched Giselle, "Really? Like I'd miss my flight!"

Giselle smiled, "I know..." she then held back some tears that had been threatening to come out since that morning, "you're so old now...and I wish...I wish I could stay and watch you grow up. You're like my very own daughter."

Eloise stepped closer to her car, wanting to end it quickly before she decided to stay with Giselle, "Goodbye Giselle! Good luck with your career!"

Giselle has now turned away from Eloise, "Goodbye! Please take care of yourself!"

They entered their cars in unison, and Eloise was the first to leave the parking lot. As she drove, she fought back more tears and bit the side of her cheek.

Don't cry, damnit.

Giselle sat in her car, her hands shaking. Was she just gonna leave Eloise? Did she want to?

It didn't matter anymore, Eloise was gone. Giselle closed her eyes and imagined Eloise coming back to her years later. She was powerful and highly skilled. She smiled at the thought of this. Athena Eloise was going to be a strong jujutsu sorcerer. She knew it. Her potential was huge.

She started the car's engine and headed off to her new life. She let go of all the thoughts of Eloise and started focusing on her future.

The clouds had now thinned, Eloise realized. The sun shone proudly through the misty clouds and she took it as a good omen.

This year, 17-year-old Eloise was going to succeed. She knew it and she hoped The Universe knew it, too.
