"But mom, why can't I climb trees?" Della whined. "It's dangerous Della," Hortense said. "Mom, I'm going to Layla's house to do homework. I'll be home for dinner," Blaire said. "Okay, have fun sweetie," Hortense said. "I will," Blaire said and left the house. "That's not fair. You let her go over to her friend's house by herself but you won't let me climb trees," Della said. "Layla and her parents live right next door and I know for a fact that Layla's mom is home," Hortense said. "Do you know that for sure," Della said. "Della, tell me what you know right now," Hortense said. "I heard her on the phone last night about going to a pizza shop that opens today downtown and Layla's mom is at work," Della said. "What about any other adult going with them?" Hortense said. "They said that no other adult is going with them," Della said. "What is the name of this pizza place," Hortense said. "The Princess Pizza Palace," Della said. "Stay here, I'm calling your father," Hortense said. Hortense called her husband, Quackmore, to find Blaire and bring her home. He said that he would do it immediately. Hortense was so worried for Blaire. There was so many dangerous things in Downtown Duckburg. She kept Donald and Della in the same room as her. She was just worried.

Quackmore came home just before dinner with Blaire in his arms. She was fighting him. She was clearly trying to get away from him. "Just go to your room," Quackmore said, putting her down. "Fine, I will," Blaire shouted going up the stairs and into her room, slamming the door behind her. "What are we going to do with these kids, Hortense? We can't keep punishing them; they just never learn," Quackmore said. "I don't know, Quackmore," Hortense said. "I want to keep these kids safe," he said. "I do too," she said. "Do you think that we're being a little too overprotective of the kids?" he said. "I don't know, Quackmore. I love these kids  too much to lose them. I mean, I had a near miscarriage with Blaire," she said. "What are we going to do with Blaire? She was so perfect up until this year," he said. "I know," she said. "we need to do something about her before this new baby arrives," he said. He gently put a hand on her stomach. "I know Quackmore," she said.
