Flashback- Wednesday, September 5th, 2018

It was a cold, rainy September evening. Ashley went to Alex's house after school with Sophia since no one was at home to watch them due to both of their parents being at work and Ashley's brothers were also at work so Alex's older brother who was 14 watched them until their parents got off work.

It was around 6:30 pm when Ashley's mom arrived. Ashley got in the backseat behind the passenger's seat and her mom got into the driver's seat. She pulled out of the driveway and started driving towards their house.

"Hey, Sweetie, how was school?" Her mom asked.

"It was ok. I didn't really learn anything new today. However, in Gym Class we got to play kickball and it was really fun. My team won," She said with excitement in her voice when she talked about gym.

"I am really glad you had a fun day in Gym Class," her mom said smiling.

There was a minute of silence until Ashley broke it by asking, "Mom, are we still going to have just a me and you weekend this weekend?"

Ashley and her mom haven't had much time lately for just the two of them to do stuff together since Owen was Born in July her mom has been helping out Will and Natalie with him a lot.

Her mom replied back "Yes, we are," and then asked, "What's one thing that you would like to do?"

"Umm let me think about it," She said.

"Ok, that's fine, just let me know by Friday," her mom said looking at her through the mirror.

"Ok,"

Ashley's mom was driving through an intersection when a car on the left ran a red light and drove right into the driver's side of the car. Ashley's mom's head went flying forward into the steering wheel and both Ashley and her mom went unconscious.

Ashley woke up to an annoying beeping sound. She tried to open her eyes but it was so bright.

"Where in the world am I?" She thought to herself.

About a minute passed and she was finally able to open her eyes and figured out that she was in the hospital but she couldn't remember why. However, a few more minutes passed and it finally came back to her. She was in the car with her mom when a car hit her.

"Where is my mom?" She thought to herself. She noticed that nothing was attached to her so she got up out of the bed. That probably was a bad idea because her whole body was sore. She then looked down to see that she had a few scratches and bruises but she didn't care she needed to find her mom.

She knew she needed to sneak past all of the nurses and doctors since they would recognize her immediately. She looked out into the hallway and didn't see anyone so she started walking around until she heard a doctor she recognized yell "Code Blue." It was Dr. Rhodes who she has met a few times because of Will. She started walking towards his voice and the minute she looked into the room she knew it was her mom.

She watched the Doctor and all of the nurses do Compressions and whatever else they do to try to restart her mom's heart. There was so much blood everywhere.

"Charge to 200. Clear," Doctor Rhodes yelled again.

"Come on, Mom please. Don't die. I need you," Ashley whispered so no one could hear her.

"Damn it. Time of death 17:15," Dr. Rhodes said while pulling off his gloves.

Ashley just stood there thinking, "Dead? She can't be dead. She's my mom. I need her."
