Amara

Amara:
I have a problem

Me:
I'm home in 10
Can it wait?

Amara:
No
I might've gotten myself in trouble

Me:
What kind of trouble?

Amara:
I might be getting escorted to prison

Me:
Amara...
What did you do?

Amara:
Well
Last month when you were away
Peter checked up on me every day
Just to make sure I was still alive
He told me you asked Sam
but he ended up coming with you

Me:
Get to the point

Amara:
Right
So
The last week before you got back
there was a party to get the stress for
the coming testweek away
I might've gotten drunk and
trashed a phone booth

Me:
Alright and?

Amara:
There were tapes of that night
And I'm on those tapes
I have to speak with the principal in 10

Me:
Alright
If you're clear on the tapes
and really ask them to show you
because cops are little shits
Then cooperate
Don't make it harder for both parties
Let them call me and I'll fix something

Amara:
Alright
How are you so cool under this?

Me:
I'm not
I'm pulling my hair out
Peter's trying to get me to calm down

Amara:
Doesn't he have school?

Me:
He was done early so he came here
Mara please don't make a big scene

Amara:
Do you even know me?

Me:
Yes that's why I said it
If things get so worse I'll call in
the big guys

Amara:
You have big guys?

Me:
We both have

Amara:
You'll call in Stark
Won't you?

Me:
Maybe

15 minutes later
*On the phone with cops*

"Is this Lori Mader?

"It is. Who am I speaking with?"

"I'm sorry, Ms. Mader, it's NYPD. We understand your sister is Amara Mader?"

"She is. What happened?"

"Your sister has broken a phone booth and we have to take her for questioning."

"All right. Is that all you guys have to do?"

"If she confesses, we might need her to pay $1500."

"That's a lot of money."

"We're aware of that, but your sister did do vandalism."

"I understand. I'll be at the precinct in 15 minutes."

"Thank you, Ms. Mader."

40 minutes later

Tony and I were walking to where they told me they had Amara. They had put her in a holding cell until she could pay.

"Your sister is eighteen, right?" Tony asked.

I nodded. "Yep, almost nineteen."

"Trashing a phone booth is nothing, then." The man greeted the cop that I spoke with on the phone. "Let's get this over with."

Amara was let out after Tony had paid and we were out in a flash, after my sister promised she'd never do it again.

"Was the party fun?" Tony asked Amara.

"I don't know. I can't remember much." She told him. "The phone booth was early on the night, though. And it was an accident. Liam and I just got too excited–."

"I don't need to hear that." I cut in. "Let's just go home. I need some hot cocoa."

"Sam's not here."

"I wasn't talking about Sam, Stark!"
